Pig Rich Jimmy

Hello I just picked up a 93 jimmy with a w engine in it. I drove it for one weekend and was racing a civic and started hearing a knock. Damn always blow em up racing, anyway put a new engine in and it ran great for about a week. I had a coolant leak so i fixed it and ran over to the car wash and hosed off the engine. ran fine for about two hours then it wouldnt idle and puff smoke out the back when i gave it some throttle. I had a bunch of left over parts from the other engine so first thought was that damn spider injector so i pulled the plenum and removed all nozzles and had my buddy crank it and noticed #4 was squirting a little more than the rest of them so i swapped it. still rich. swapped map. still rich. unplugged ect to see if it changes. nope. brought the scanner home tonight and looking at it the only thing i see weird is when in open loop the a/f ratio goes up to 16.0 and when it goes closed it suddenly drops to 14.7 I don't know where to go from here, any help i guess would help. Thanks in advance oops no codes

Re: Pig Rich Jimmy

for starters, thats lean, not rich.

try fuel pump, and adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

i just had the SAME issue, and the pump and regulator cured it.

Am I the only one that thought this was going to be a bad mouth post against Jimmy? :dunno::rotf:

HA Thats great didn't even think about that.

Well I am still thinking rich and maybe I was reading the wrong pid on the scanner. Damn thing still won't idle runs rough, puffing black out the back. it will idle ok if I unplug the pcv valve and the heater control off the intake but it has no power.:dunno::dunno::dunno:

Re: Pig Rich Jimmy

Well i hooked it up to the emissions machine and with every thing back together (all vacuum lines hooked up) it had 1500-1700 ppm hc's i'd say thats pretty rich.
