Played around with a Viper ... *Video*

Got to play a little bit with a Viper, not sure if it is classified as a kill because we were on a busy road filled with traffic and Johnny Law, and we were both hesitant to run, and really didn't go more than maybe 80-85ish? I didn't think he wanted to go the first time we pulled along side of him, until he did a flyby a minute later, it sounded awesome. After the flyby, I talked with him for a sec, he didn't want to go on such a busy street, etc. (plus he was a cool older guy), so I said "nice car, sounded sweet" and pulled away.......... but after we thought it was over, he tried another flyby a mile or so down the road!! I can't go WOT because of flooding/crappy FPR (new one goes in Saturday)/tuning, but I got on it probably 1/2 to 3/4 throttle anyways and let the boost do the work............hell how many shots do you get at a Viper? So as soon as I seen/heard him in my blindspot downshifting to attempt another flyby, I got on it, after he had a little jump on me, I caught him, and as soon as I started to pull, he shut down and downshifted at about 80(?) or so. Would love to see what I could do if the truck was running at 100% and he would go for it all out as well. Not really what I would consider a race, but still cool either way, props to the Viper (as well as Jay and Nate in the quick sleeper DSM.)

So you caught and passed a Viper from a roll with him passing you under wot and you only using 1/2-3/4 throttle? Stopped him from pulling and passed him by?

pretty much I guess... he shut it down and downshifted as soon as I caught him and started pulling, I'm sure if it would have continued longer he would have pulled me on top end after 120 or so? The speed we were going at that point when he shut down was 2x the speed limit for that stretch of road. Like I said in the first post, not much of a kill, but still cool to play around with one.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOk...unless your Sy is doing 120+ in the quarter, you did not stop a Viper @ WOT from pulling on you from a roll.

Let's be clear, you may have caught even and stopped him from pulling, but I guarantee you he wasn't 100% on it.

If your truck is modified heavily, tell me and disregard everything I said. If not, c'mon 105mph (avg for great running Sy) vs 118+ trap speed (avg for viper depending on last few years) isn't hard to figure out.

What further makes this unbelievable for me, is you stating that your truck isn't running perfectly. I took a look at the video, what I see is him flooring it and passing you and then you passing him after he let off.

Why do I get the feeling that this is going to be one of those threads where the whole internet ends up posting here about a Viper vs Sy?

Either way, it was a cool vid, It would have been nice to see them both line up and do a full 1/4 run at WOT, that would have determined a winner for sure.

last week at the track with problems I ran a 12.6@102 bogging on the launch and leaving at only 4psi then going 3/4 throttle from the 60ft. to the end of the track, (oh and with a stock chip and 2 bar map, as I had problems with a 3 bar and tuning)

truck is faster than that, but like I even said in the first post, I wouldn't consider it a kill or even a race, just a rare chance to play around with a Viper, I never claimed a beatdown.

Because he only ran 3/4 throttle from the 60' mark to the end of the 1/4 mile.

My guess is that he has a solid mid-11 second truck to run that well bogging on the launch, only leaving @ 4 psi, and only using 3/4 throttle.

Yeah, bogged hard after the launch, let off and went 3/4 throttle the rest of the way. When running good my truck is where you say. Oh well, still a work in progress (aren't all our trucks like that? ) I keep tweaking, tuning and upgrading parts every weekend.

12.9 @ 108 is the K20 Integra with 100+ shot of N20 I raced. I ran the 12.6@102 with probems, see the video a couple posts above

edit: oh and notice at the end of the run I hit the brakes a couple times before the line to "sandbag" a little too.

well...i don't know why people don't believe ya...seem you havea solid truck....nice kill or at least it was fun with a viper, something you don't see everyday---------at least not here in the Buffalo/Rochester area!

Reminds me of the guy I know that has the white Mamba Viper, although I wouldn't dare race him, he said why you want this car next to that beast (Syclone)? :lol:
