Pontiac Heads # 10045449

after extensive searching i have not been able to come up with a lot of info on these heads other than it takes a lot of $$$ to make them work. can anyone provide me with specs on these heads and correct intake info to work with these heads. i picked a set of these up new in the boxes pretty cheap and want to find out all the info about them i can. i just picked up my new motor with the vortec's from the shop and that is what i will be putting in the sy. but i want to start building my bowtie and am considering using these heads.

any info on these would be appreciated.

I've heard someone say they used a set of off the shelf Crane rockers on these heads, but I wouldn't believe it unless you see it yourself... so:

1) Jesel rockers
2) Custom headers
3) Carby intake converted to efi, or a bunch of work on a stock intake, or a set of spacers.

I know that NightDriver used these and had to use specific Jesel rockers designed for the Pontiacs. I have been told by some that the Jesel rockers for a set of Bowtie heads will not work, but I don't know why.

Re: Pontiac Heads # 10045449

I think he got his heads from Mike Lee over at RPM. I have a set of "mystery" Jesel rockers that came off a set of GM 359 heads, but there are no part numbers stamped on them, so I can't even call Jesel to figure out if they'd work on these heads. I have a carb intake in storage with the Brodix/Pontiac logo, but haven't mocked either the heads or the intake up on a block to see what works and what doesn't since I had lost interest in the truck.

I'll be moving in the next month or so, at which point, everything comes out of storage and I can fart around and see what the part number on the intake is. I don't know if you're going to get a lot of answers in this thread from people. I belive NightDriver and John Gerber (WindedV6?) have used the Pontiac setup, along with Mike Lee. Mine are just sitting on a shelf. Not sure if I would spend the money on a V6 build or go with an LS1 swap. I guess I should just get the truck running first?

If you have the heads, you can pick up a CC kit for a decent price and figure out what the volume is on your heads, but you'll need a set of valves/springs, etc installed. Keep this thread up to date as there is not a lot of information about what part numbers to use for these heads. I think the biggest expense is going to be the rockers unless you can find a deal on some. I think John Gerber said he had a Jesel catalog that listed part numbers. The only V-6 systems I see listed on their website are at:

http://www.jeselonline.com/index.php?categoryid=61

Shows just over $1k for the setup. Pretty pricey if you ask me. There may be cheaper ones, but I think those are still around $800 for a set. Figure you need an intake, all the associated hardward to go with that, fuel injection, headers, valves, springs, etc. You kinda really need to want these to make them work...

The Jesel rockers for the Pontiacs are specific.

"Sir, we only offer one kit for the Pontiac V6 head and its part number is KCS-01717 and the list price is $850.00. If you are interested in purchasing the kit, you can call our sales/tech staff at 732/901-1800 and we can assist you with any questions you may have."

You will need a raised runner intake like this. This one has been modified:

This one hasn't: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/rbippus@sbcglobal.net/detail?.dir=a266scd&.dnm=3bc9scd.jpg&.src=ph

They need to update their website. It's still listed at $1,063.00. Not that I'm complaining about the drop in price...

That was a month or two ago. Maybe they've gone up.

I know there is a thread about this somewhere on here but I dont recall where. I think the concensus was that brodix cast the pontiac heads and so they were like the same thing. But thats only if I am remembering right.

nightdriver did get the heads from mike @rpm. i now have the pontiac heads that he sold me. if i'm not mistaken he should still have the intake manifold. i did not want it because i'm getting rpm's custome one soon. he used jessel rockers with the pontiacs.

The .pdf on their website shows them at $850.00. Where did you find them for $751.00?

Me too. I ordered a set as well.
Watch, they'll probably show up without the pedastals. :(
