Problem with oil hose

Hi guys. I have bought new oil hose, as on photo #12472311, but he differs from old that cost(stand)s on machine, no seal oil, this will be a problem when installing? Who had an experience, request to answer.

Id try installing it, then crank it over once or twice for a short duration and check for leaks.. I ended up using steel braided line and i just cut the old end off of the stock lines and transplanted it to the new steel braided line. Make sure the metal peice of the hose isnt touching the crossover pipe otherwise youll slowly rub through the line. My tubing was sitting on the flange and it opened up a pinhole and shot oil all over the truck.

Re: Problem with oil hose

There is a flat seal (like a washer) that goes in there. I had questioned this when I replaced my oil lines. Some use the "O" rings and others use the washer type seals. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, I'm going by memory. I'll try to post a pic of the seal if I can find one.

:2cents: I would not use that. To easy to blow. An o-ring needs to be "retained." not compressed like a gasket.:2cents:

Re: Problem with oil hose

That should have come with the new style sealing rings zip tied to it. They are like the captured o-ring seal that is used on drain plug gaskets (aluminum surrounding a rubber sealing o-ring). It should be a 1 piece seal that will seal both hoses on one end. The last set I got had 1 zip tied to each end through the center bolt hole.

OK.
You offer to use #426

Re: Problem with oil hose

Found this picture online...
Definately not the correct one but may give you an idea of what it looks like. The lower 2 are similar but like I said, not the same. If I remember right, it's a washer like seal with rubber inthe center. If you don't get this solved in the next day or two, let me know and I'll take mine off and take a pic for you.

You should be able to use either style, just be sure you have the correct seal between the parts.

Re: Problem with oil hose

Look up the oil cooler seals for a 2000 or so Jimmy with a 4.3. That is what you are wanting. I would not use the sealing rings from a A/C system as the rubber may be a different composition of material. May not hurt to use A/C seals on a oil line, but I would never use the oil seals on an A/C system.

In your first post you have #6 highlited. There is some wording under it that says "if cust is replacing old part may need....." What is the part # after that? That is most likely what you need.

Cool, thanks for the info. I've seen those but not on a system subject to high pressure and temp. But I don't fool with AC systems either.
