Re: Progress of Bowtie motor

Well got the trany in, motor's all bolted down, just very slow progress. Its seems like every little thing needs to be custom fit, so alot of putting on taking off modifiying and putting back on. I am waiting on my TC from George, so I will have the drivline all finished, then I can finish up some wiring then plum it for a new fuel cell and Hot and cold sides of the IC.

Re: Progress of Bowtie motor

Here you go. This is from the NHRA web site and the new rule books should be out this month.

"Steel-bodied pickup trucks (7.50 seconds and slower), roll cages are permitted with no back braces if the roll cage satisfies SFI 25.1E, 25.2, 25.4, or the roll cage consists of a four-point (door car) cage with a complete SFI 2.4B, 2.5B, 2.6, 2.7A dragster, SFI 10.2, 10.3 altered, or SFI 10.4 street roadster roll cage/driver's compartment incorporated into and attached to the four-point roll cage. An upper windshield bar is mandatory."

I just happen to notice this looking through this thread... nice that we can get by without the bars through the back window.

In trying to translate the SFI specs... doesn't this imply that a Pro Stock or F/C style sub-cage would be needed in order to avoid the rear bars?

Just trying to figure out what sort of cage you'd need to be kosher with this ruling...

We are waiting for the rule book to come out for clarifing. We should be able to to qualify under the same rules that allow a current 8.50 et class rating which is same as the 7.50 et class with the addition the F/C driver protection.

This current 8.50 et class is a full cage with halo, door bars, dash cross bar, rear extended bars, etc. We are hoping the new rule eliminates the extented bars on pickup trucks.

Re: Progress of Bowtie motor

Well a little update. Still waiting on the trans case, but I do have it ready to be plumbed up next week. I got the motor primed up, distribitor in and phased in. I am still waiting on the custom Carbon fiber dash housing I will be using to hold the racpak Dash, the stock Carbon units he said I should have the first one next week ,then after that I can have mine for the Racpak, so I will keep you informed when I will have one for everyone to see. Also Got the Trany crossmenber for the 400 That RPM built for me in. Mounted a the battery cut off swich at the rear.

I will get some new shots of things but doesn't look much differant really? But I have been putting in 1,and 2 O clock nights? Just doing all those small tedious things.

Re: Progress of Bowtie motor

Looks like a crankcase or evac pump. More than likely the cam wont have a ton of vacuum and also it helps seal the rings better along with getting all the crap out of the crankcase

Re: Progress of Bowtie motor

Just a little update. I had to take some steps backwards.
The Trany, and Trans case had to come back out, because I forgot when George did my TC he had upgraged it to the 32 spline input shaft.

I was kind of woundering when I had everything in the truck why it was still rolling aroung in park  So I have the trany now fixed with the right tail shaft and its back in the truck, and hopfully I will have it running by Wed.
