Project Crispy...

Re: Crispy

I wish. We are moving tomorrow and I didn't even plan it. I found a house with double the sq footage for $500 more than what we are paying now and decided to snatch it up. Whats crazy is I just found this house two weeks ago. My dear wife refuses to bring this truck with us to the new house so I decided to go ahead and put the pedal to the metal on it and just get it done. It's been a bitch trying to run my business, pack, raise two kids and work on this truck every day but we're almost there.

I almost told my wife to shove it when she said she didn't want to bring it with us but when I thought about it I really didn't either so I left that fight for another truck. She keeps asking me when it is all going to end and I told her when I can't do it anymore and to remember what I told her when I first met her, "make me choose and I'll choose the one that didn't make me choose"

Wait, you are moving again? Didn't you just move a few months back?

Re: Crispy

Ok, I thought you had already moved, making this a second move in the last few months. We gotta swing by and check out your new place.

Re: Crispy

Time to add to this thread...

Progress has been really slow but it is moving.

Played with the footage of it catching on fire

First thing I did was to add the chrome alternator. Don't worry I will remove the fuel pressure gauge before I start driving it!

Next was to flush the power steering and hydro boost system. (I'm still fighting some cloudy fluid)

Got a few notes on the truck asking to buy it... :)

Moved it into the garage so it wouldn't get stolen!

It was running so rich that the narrowband wouldn't move from rich.

Replaced the injectors with freshly cleaned one's and it moved off pig rich!

Re: Crispy

Fought a code 43 and didn't listen when everyone of the posts related to code 43 said knock sensor... Even Dave P told me code 43it's easy. It's the knock sensor or the memcal... Replaced the memcal and it still wouldn't go away... Ugh... Off to the dealer for a genuine sensor... Fixed it. No more CEL!

Spent a lot off time trying to figure out why it had such a hard time idling.

Dave P gave some great advice on adjusting fuel pressure instead of just saying put it at 43lbs with the vacuum line disconnected.

Re-read a few of the basics on www.powertuneplus.com to help me remember how to use datamaster again!

Looked up threads on grounds and voltage problems since I was losing datamaster connectivity when the voltage would drop to less than 11volts. Pulled a few ground straps at the junkyard and had fun gettingsome parts for other syty members

Replaced battery after looking at battery relocation threads. Bought a 26r... Probably should have bought a PC925 instead... But it definitely didn't struggle as much to idle...

Re: Crispy

Next on the list after grounds is to move the battery back. Or play with it more on the drivers side... Haven't made up my mind yet...

Also need to take a hole saw to the inner fender for the intercooler pipe!

Re: Crispy

Tried doing this mod today. I kinda messed up the pin on the green wire trying to get it out. Anyone know where to get some replacements or what size they are?

Re: Crispy

How did you mess it up. Show me a picture. I can probably send you a green wire to splice in if its really that bad. Got some forever stamps to use!

Re: Crispy

The pin is bent and disfigured now. Tried to straighten it out to fit right but I think it needs a new end/pin crimped on. Yeah if you could send me that green wire that would be perfect. I would appreciate that. Let me know and I will pm you my address

Re: Crispy

Worked on the truck some more last night. Pulled out the 26r battery that didn't really fit and replaced it with a $40 u1 group battery with 350 cca. Turns the truck over perfectly.

Also good great below the ATR airbox now I need to get a remote battery post for the tender and part one of the mockup is done. Then a trip to the yard for more off the correct bolts!

Re: Project Crispy...

Guess I should start using this thread instead of the one that Mike started...

Maybe a moderator can combine them???

Installing the ported upper and lower intake tonight!

Re: Project Crispy...

U1? That's we use in our riding mowers. Let me know how that works out in the long run. Very curious.

Re: Project Crispy...

Got the lower intake on crispy but I had to stop for the day after I realized I was missing a few parts... 4 small ones to be exact...

Ported vortecs...
