Yea i was looking at them online and it looks like an early c4 radiator. BTW whats JTR?
Jaguars that run. They do engine swaps and have a ton of parts and info for S10's. They have a website. I think its www.jagsthatrun.com or something. Maybe google it.

Re: Project Daily Driver - V8 blazer

Did a few more things today. Ive spent most of my time lately trying to find cheap parts or I could have finished this twice by now. Projects are much more fun when you have the money to build them

Wired up the harness inside the truck and mounted the ECM(in the glove box)
Removed all the V-belt pulleys
Hooked up throttle and TV cables, found out the TV cable BARELY reaches. I think it might cause an adjustment problem but this trans is on the way out anyways and I have a spare.

Waiting for parts in the mail that my dad had to send down to me from home since I couldnt fit them in on my last trip here.
Serp belt setup, water pump, power steering, alternator
small cap HEI
MSD coil
VATS module

Waiting on parts from eficonnection.com
coil tach and power lead pigtail harness
small cap hei pigtail harness

Still trying to find fuel lines that come off the rail and a TPI waterneck

Spare parts I have for sale now:

Old style large cap HEI with newer cap, rotor, and module
remanufactured v-belt alternator, power steering pump, water pump(cast iron), crank pulley, belts, brackets
Aluminum edelbrock performer knock off intake

hmm...this all looks very familiar to me. feel free to shoot me any questions you might have about wiring that TPI up. what ECM are you using? im just about done with my '730 SD harness. its gonna eventually have $59. but i think for the moment im just gonna stick with AUJP.

quick question...im looking for a SyTy throttle cable. i've got late model progressive linkage throttle body, and i need a new cable. i don't suppose you still have one around???

now finish that up so it looks like this:

Nope, dont have one. But I do have a couple questions....
What did you use for fuel lines from the rail to the frame?
What TV cable did you use? Mine fits but barely
Now that I cant use the heater hose hookup on the water pump and I dont have a spot on the radiator, how do I hook up my other hose? I was just thinking of using a tee and splicing into the lower hose but if theres a cleaner way I'll try it.
What upper radiator hose and waterneck did you use?
Do you have any spare parts? Im in the market for a few

And more pics please, that looks sweet.

Re: Project Daily Driver - V8 blazer

Update for tonight:

Put in the small cap distributor
Installed the taurus fan, still have to wire it
Installed crank pulley, water pump, power steering pump and bracket

Realized the fan is too close to the water pump pulley so now I have to scoot the engine back but I have to be up early tomorrow so I stopped for the night.

Re: Project Daily Driver - V8 blazer

the TV cable is for a TPI Camaro. i got it from TPIParts.net. why can't you use the water pump? thats where mine is going. ill shoot some pics of the heater hoses, and maybe that will help you out. the thermostat housing is one of those cheap chrome units from autozone. both radiator hoes are from a 4.3L S10. i needed to get around the alternator, so thats why i used it. im going to shoot some pics now. have them up shortly. -Jim

Fuel lines. for these i took the factory camaro hoses to a shop and had them add hose i think it was about 30" long. might not be the best, but it works great and no leaks.

Re: Project Daily Driver - V8 blazer

Thanks for the pics and info, it helps a lot. I thought it would kink my heater hose if I used that outlet. I guess that saves me buying the tee for the lower hose from JTR. Now to find some factory fuel lines

Re: Project Daily Driver - V8 blazer

Did a little more yesterday(late last night)

Put on the serp belt setup only to discover that syty serp belt setups wont work with a TPI. They block any chance of putting an air filter on the throttle body. Plus they hit the TPS sensor. It had been a while since I looked at one so I forgot they sit a little different. I put everything on(power steering and lines, water pump, crank pulley) then when doing the AC bracket found this out.

tpiserpLH.jpg

Then I pulled all that off and put the Vbelt parts back on

The V belt alternator bracket wont work with a TPI lower intake so I had to modify it(cut it up). I have no air compressor here for my cut off wheel so this part was quite a job. It invloved a hacksaw at first which took forever. Then I didnt cut off enough and I was worried it would rub a hole in the coolant line to the throttle body so I had to cut of more. The second time I drilled a bunch of holes and grabbed it with vise grips and bent it back and forth till it broke off. Then ground down the sharpe edges with the grinder stone on my dremel tool. I didnt have any cut off wheels left for my dremel and it was too late to go buy some but that would have made this easier.

With the V belt setup I have no AC bracket so I'll have to switch later on but for money reasons Im going to use the Vbelt for now.

Had to move the engine/transmission back a little to make room for the E-fan. Still barely had room. The studs on the water pump were hitting the fan and I had no bolts that thread size so I had to get the hacksaw out again and cut off the leftover section of the studs. I can't move the engine back any further than this because I dont think it will allow the driveshaft enough room for suspension movement.

Switched to a small cap distributor since I had no luck finding an 85-86 distributor and this small cap was free. Had an MSD coil leftover from the ty. Swapped the pigtail on the harness for a small cap pigtail. Heres where I mounted the coil and MAP

And what it all looks like for now
tpivbeltfrt.jpg

I installed the VSS from JTR for mechanical speedometers and ECM's needing a VSS input. The speedo wasnt working so I bought a new driven gear for it and went to install it at the same time only to find that the speedo drive gear was also broken. Im ordering a new one of those today.

I also found some factory hard fuel lines from the rail finally. $5($12 with shipping) from ebay used. There hadnt been any on for a week or two and I didnt want to spend $30 on new ones. Yes I'm a cheapass

List of things left to do:
Install fuel lines and run rubber lines to those
install coil power and tach pigtail
hook up power and ground to the e-fan
hook up power and ground to the wiring harness
install VATS module
Install speedo gears
Install and oil pressure sensor and knock sensor
t-stat housing
new, longer TV cable
Take it in for some O2 bungs and install the ECM O2 and my wideband

I'll keep an eye out for one.

Just ordered a couple more parts, spent the most Ive spent since the wiring harness and VSS

From partsamerica.com
oil pressure switch $7
knock sensor $32
spectre tstat housing $11
transmission o-rings 10 pack $0.09 (not sure what they are for but they were cheap and you can never have enough o-rings laying around)

Shipping was free since I spent over $50

Im too broke to buy a new TV cable and speedo drive gear. That will come if the new job gives me overtime or my truck sells. For now it would be nice just to pull out of the garage.

Re: Project Daily Driver - V8 blazer

oops; sorry i forgot to mention the S10 bracket won't work. i could have saved you some trouble. as for the later models, i think they are all the same. in 96 they changed completly, and i think you will need a new alternator. the TV cable is only $25 from the source i listed.

im in the market for March billet brackets and pullies, so ill have a loose P/S bracket.

Re: Project Daily Driver - V8 blazer

i just noticed that you have the PCV going into the wrong vaccum port. it is supposed to go into the base on the drivers side. those two ports on the plenum are for the FPR, and the other is for vaccum accessories...cruise control, heater vents, ect. you can plug the MAP into one of those, but you'll lose all that other stuff.

just like a syty, you should have the MAP and FPR on dedicated vaccum ports. to solve this problem, i drilled and tapped a 1/4" NPT hole under the plenum. i found a 90* fitting with 2 nipples, and it works great. takes care of the vents, and now i've got a place to hookup a boost gauge.

Re: Project Daily Driver - V8 blazer

Now for sale $2500

This is still unfinished, but drives. I drove it across town when we moved. It only goes 30mph but has no knock, O2, or oil pressure sensors. Im sure that and the timing are the cause but I just had to get it to the new house. It does start up and run great at idle but it would need towed. If I come up with some money to replace what was stolen from my garage to complete it then I will finish it but right now I dont have money to make it worthy of hauling around a newborn like it was intended for.

I also have some 93 ty seats(full set) and a ZQ8 rear diff available for a little extra. I will only sell these with the truck or after the truck is sold.

Im not on here as much lately also because I work a lot of 12 hour days and my daily drive is 2 hours round trip, so if you are interested and want to see the truck I can be reached by email at mhardw3@yahoo.com or at (309)241-4598. Please leave a message if I dont answer.
