So what's so special about these??

They're a polish-impregnated cloth. They're also lemony. :)

Look at a stock A/C filter-drier housing.

Now imagine it polished.

20 mins with that cloth, and you're there. (provided it isn't all dented/gouged... it's not that much of a miracle)

They also work great on chrome... I use 'em on the GN wheels, too.

I've tried lots of different cloths, metal polish, etc. These are the quickest and easiest to use.

I get 'em at a local hardware store... the eBay price isn't bad.

My Dad found these, years ago. He's great for buying fly-by-night products, so I kinda rolled my eyes at this one... until I used it.

Funny thing is, the dirtier they get, the better they seem to polish.

To finish it off you need a new coolant bottle and a new washer bottle. I makes the engine compartment look brand new. Nice touch to a nice looking engine. And there Cheap. I also to an engine detailer that bakes on the engine looks sweet when your done.CD2 or something.

Just run Virgin thinner in the bottles, about a cup in each and swish around cheaper than new bottles, the bottles are like 15.00 each from the dealer now

So here it is:

Before- Dirty, ugly.

Cleaned with dish soap+ water, dried.

The polishing stuff. These are probably about 4-5 years old, maybe more.
I used the really dirty black one.

After a quick couple of passes:

Back to polishing...

You wipe it off with a old sock... get a clean one when it gets too dirty.
The wipe off is actually a big part of it.

Looks better!

One thing, if your aluminum parts have a lot of nicks/scratches, you'll want to hit them with a chunk of 320 grit sand paper. Bigger nicks will need heavier grit, working back down to 320.

Done. You can see a few marks in the pipe, but this is down by the oil filter adapter. Not likely to see it.

I didn't do the whole pipe in that picture; you can get a feel for what it was like before, and what it's like after.

Another for comparison:

These work great for touch ups on show chrome or previously polished stuff. Takes the hard water spots right out. Don't have to mess around with tubs of polish.

later,
