Re: Pulled the heads WTF pics*

I'm positive the VIN's were issued in sequence. I've done some research using VIN, ship date, received date, and final ship date from the 92 listings on Sportmachines where this information is available. Now, whether they were shipped out of PAS in sequence, or sold in sequence, of course not.

As many of you know GM partially built SyTy and PAS finished up the final assembly.

The certifcate of authenticity that Typhoons were sent after the owner purchase a Typhoon suposedly has a sequence number that didn't match the VIN serial number sequence. The VIN sequence is in the order GM built them. If I had to guess the order that PAS built them was given a sequence number that they put on the Typhoon authenticity certificate. Syclone's would have been built in a similiar fashion as they weren't exactly final assembled from 1-2995 the same exact way as GM VIN them.

I know Brian Merk vary well & he is the one that owned the sportmachines site forever & did all the research you see on there. I don't care but there are other people that do. & no there not in order coming off the line like the Sy's were. Just my .02

What are you talking about????? What isn't in VIN order?

I'm positive that GM built them in VIN order. And that they came off the end of Shreveport or Pontiac Assembly line in VIN order. What happened from there on, (including the work performed by PAS), who knows, or cares?

Not to stir the pot further, but define "order".

Near as I can tell from some of the info, there was little to guarantee that a given VIN is = to a "build" number.

And, when is "built" valid? When the chassis was assembled? When it was shipped to PAS? When it was complete and shipped from PAS? When it was shipped from the dealer back to PAS for rework, then re-shipped?

Depending on how you consider the above, the "build" number (sequence number) can be quite different from the VIN.
