YOU ARE MY HERO, NORMALLY I DONT LIKE MULTI COLOR GRAPHICS, BUT ON YOUR SY IT IS AWESOME. I HAVE 2 QUESTIONS, CAN YOU POST UP PICS OF YOUR AIR SETUP, AND ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET A SET OF THOSE TAIL LIGHTS, I KNOW THEIR DISCONTINUED.

I want mine to look almost stock(lowered a little, blacked out stock wheels. Other then that, nothing.) but be far from it under the hood.

30,899 miles, stock looking except under the hood.I agree about design flaws, there are plenty to address.Nearly $9000 in the engine bay and still not done yet.
It's your truck,do what you want. You didn't buy it to sell it someday,so enjoy it your way.Stock or modified, your in the very small world of SyTy.I've never had a negative comment, people are just surprised to see it and glad to see it still on the road.

Leaving my low mileage truck all stock. The next best condition truck is all in stock condition also. Have went over the truck as much as possible with detailing and making sure everything is as original and stock as it was new. The new Typhoon. Will be all stock with the IC hose reroute. Borla catback came on it. Konis and the fiberglass rear springs. Want it as close to stock as possible. Other two Syclones are for modding. One has a built engine, FMIC, garret, etc.

Well, since I had a teal, and they're somewhat rare,I left it as stock as possible, but any mods that were done were easily converted back.In my opinion,if the truck was wrecked or a theft recovery or has really high miles,I wouldn't have a problem modding the hell out of one.

By the time I'm done, the only thing factory on mine will be the name. :)

With a low milage truck I'd feel bad doing anything to it that isn't easily reversible. But for the high milage like I'm gonna eventually pick up I'm shootin big. I'd feel bad putting anything bigger than a V6 though same with a manual

My TY is up in the 17x,xxx mile range. I want to paint it something different that GMC didn't do from the factory. I don't know what just yet, but something different. Rear disks, shave the roof rack, wing, wheels, exhaust, etc. For the most part (other than the roof rack & paint) it can all be put back to original condition if need be I suppose.

Re: Purest or out in left field with your ST/TY??

I am still on the edge with this one.

I specifically bought an unmolested low mileage truck .... so I could mod it. At the time I thought not many were modded ( I bought it without researching the forum, lol) ... and I wanted a "plain canvas" to start with.

Then I become part of the forum and wished I purchased a BUILT truck from someone that has ALL THE INFO about the mods. It just sucks buying someone elses project, then trying to figure out what parts you have. I just know I could have a completely built truck for the money I have invested in just parts that still need to be installed .

Now I enjoy it being stock , and realize stock trucks are the rare ones .... hmmm ---

Re: Purest or out in left field with your ST/TY??

...IMHO you can have your cake and eat it too (by selecting mods that are stealthy):
-suspension upgrades (for handling, stance, and maintenance - shocks, springs, swaybar, etc)
-internal motor upgrades (performance & reliability with factory exterior look)
-wheels & tires (which can be changed to user preference or polished for factory-ish look)
-exhaust (stainless/rust & performance but with mufflers, cat, etc)
-brakes (GM-ish disks or such that fit 16" stock wheels)
-paint/cladding (stock color with better quality/clear coating/finish)

And pretty soon you have $$$$ in a New-Old-Stock (NOS) SyTy thats been on jack stands
for years (and thus low mileage) but which looks factory new (and is more reliable/enjoyable).
No worse-better than buying a prestine SyTy which has had a "new" factory engine installed under warranty (which never runs right but has "proper" documentation). Whats more the stealthy mods above
still retains "numbers matching" vs warrantee service replacement (or service bulletin compliance).

So its just a matter of "choosing" the right mods (and keeping the spare factory parts - if your really concerned).

Re: Purest or out in left field with your ST/TY??

Well, :2cents: You live only once, might as well enjoy yourself and do as you please without getting into much trouble, right? Dont get carried away of course. If you keep it "original" its cool, and its your thing. But, personally, I like to customize my vehicles to what i like and want and i like my cars/trucks to be somewhat on the flashy side. Can you imagine if everyone drove the same exact car? Having a bone stock ty/sy is may be worth a bit more..But, honestly, not a whole lot more. Enjoy what you have. I drive my ty each and everyday like there's no tomorrow. If i blow it up, ill make her faster and stronger. I have the technolgy, and will take on a new challenge. Gotta keep my life interesting.

Waving to all, Karl
