QA1 coil spring compressor

I need some help. I am trying to install a 1" spring spacer but cannot find a tool that fits the coilover spring. I borrowed one from the parts store, and the head is too large to fit inside the spring. It works on top and bottom. If I try it like that I can't install the shock or top retainer ring. I bought something off EBay and still can't get both hooks on the inner portion of the spring. Can someone direct me to a tool they've used and know works with the QA1 Shock - Hyperco coil spring? TIA.

I used large hose clamps. unscrewed them, placed around coils top to bottom and tightend them progressively. I used 3 clamps evenly spaced around the coil. worked great
