I don't know is why I ask. Are the headlight buckets in the grille of a Syclone painted from the factory?

Yes, same color as the grill. 2967's was, which is 30 from the end. That's the only known-likely-original Sy I've owned, I think they all were painted, but I don't know for certain. Never paid that close attention.

I never paid attention at all but I thought they were painted.

They syclone grilles are like the 92 Tys. Painted surfaces. Grey/Argent headlight buckets and grill center with the sourrounding "frame" body color. HTH
