my truck bottoms out all the time.. hits the bumpstops.. 2.5" blocks with the wedges.. and i drive on northeast roads like you..
there is no real solution.. i'm trying a cheapo pair of air shocks at the moment..
i was looking into custom leafs that would lower the truck and keep it stiff.. but that is expensive

My truck likes to bottom on the stops as well with flexaforms and stock wedges.
I don't have front stops right now, getting to that :lol:

I saw an article somewhere in the last 24 hrs that was discussing the ZQ8 suspension option for later model S-trucks. It said this option included special polymer bumpstops to ease the pain of bottoming out. Anyone have any info on this?
edit: found a possible part number:
15989674 is 1st design ZQ8, urethane foam, configured like a stock rubber bumper
15956547 is 2nd design ZQ8, urethane foam, much taller
Double-edit: these appear to be for the front suspension.

Mine does the same with similar set up 'cept for set back plates and HD Bilsteins and not the wedge. I know SuperSports10 added a little bump stop between the top and first leaves on the front of the leaf where they come apart. So when the spring compresses it hit the stop instead of the rest of the leaf pack. Not the best description I know. Maybe he'll chime in and add a pic.

You guys ever looked at the rear bump stops on a second gen? They are much taller and seem to apply progressively rather than all at once like ours.. I've been meaning to make it to a u-pull-it yard to grab a set of the stops and the pads that they come in contact with but I just haven't had time..
I can probably snap some pics of a set tomorrow..

Ok, here is a stock 4x4 2nd gen rear bump stop. As you can see its much taller than ours. The advantage though is that it applies progressively as opposed to one hard/loud thump when you bottom out.
My only concern is that in our lower applications we may be sitting right on that stop.. Even if that ends up being the case I still am going to try it at some point..

Cool. I think it would be fine for it to sit on the stop, as long as the desired ride height is still attained. This is exactly the sort of solution I would hope for. Provides a sharply progressive 'spring rate', unlike the leaf springs. Looks like the upper mount and 'cup' that it hits on the spring are probably important to proper operation. Time for a junkyard tour.

that jounce bumper is hollow to allow progressive application.
the bump stop is removeable, .....but the lower cup is part of the axle housing and is welded in.
as for the bump stop on the leaf spring.... were going to see how my new setup works at the track
