Quick

Hello,
I am new to the SYTY world, a potential new buyer, selling my 98 t/a ws.6 so can finally afford a SyTy. I have been checking them out and boy these things are SOO quick. I nailed the gas and I WAS OFF. These things are no joke. As SYTY lover for years, it is great to finally be able to have a chance to get this truck. Couple quick questions if you guys can give up some time. First off the Emergency brake and shifter were both had a little friction, the e-brake needing to get manually pushed with your foot or the release lever held for an amount of time. The shifter took a little (little) pushing to get into place. Not a jerk, just a little more force than the TY I checked out. I saw a white Ty, 30 k mi, and everything clicked fine. The SY had 90k mi. I know this plays a difference, but is there a good way to fix it? What effects are there from 60-90 of the same fuel filter? How much does it cost to replace the wastegate solenoid and a shattered fog light housing? If you guys could have had $1000 to put into your truck in the start, including anti-theft and repair/longetivity mods, how would you have spent it? I was sorta thinking Alky kit and then walbro 255 FP and whatever else. Do you all use the TB kit? Thank you guys for all the help. Hope to be coming here soon for mod advice. Extremely helpful forum, helped me do a lot of my research. Also, incidentally, how much does it cost to get a cowl hood painted? Anyone in the Bay Area here?(I know you are here, just wondering who) Thank you for all the help people.

Re: Quick

New foglights aren't that expensive, I'm pretty sure theres a whole kit you can pick up at Wal-Mart for like 30 bux. I'm going to an external gate cuz the internals suck.

Re: Quick

I'm in Santa Clara, you're welcome to stop by and talk shop if you're in the Area. Sy #434 is pretty heavily modded at this point, I could probably answer most of your questions. Painting your cowl hood will be $400 to $500 for a quality job. My Goodmark cowl hood needed major resin work to even things out...they are all over the place out of the box.

Check and see if it has a aftermarker prop shaft. If it does and is bigger then the stocker you might have some clearance issues.

Is the truck is stock? I would start with a tune up. Then get into small mods, it depends on your goals. If you want a fast street truck or a race truck. Do you wanna keep the stock turbo and max out its performance, or replace it and forget it.

But for the most part, find out what mods it has if any before you get into any performance thinking. Because it might have some stuff done already. Or it may not. Check http://www.sytyarchives.com/ out, there are a few good write ups on there for some things to start with or replace. ;)

Tranny was rebuilt 5k mi ago
Yeah, but by who? Many people build these trannys using stock S-series parts, which doesn't handle the power that these trucks make. Spend a couple hundred on a basic tune (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel pump/filter, IC pump, reroute the IC lines, and tuning(!)), then buy an alarm. These truck are stupid easy to steal, so protect your investment.

Tranny cooler wouldn't hurt, custom burnt chip by someone who is local to you. Be prepaired to to ball joints, tie rod ends, and idler arm soon (yes, even on the 30K mi Ty). Most importantly, just look around the SyTy board as often as you can. There is tons of info here if you just search.
