Too bad you don't live in the Bay Area. I'd race you on my GSX-R 750. I doubt you'd even get the holeshot, seriously. Bikes can launch hard too if you know how to ride them. Basically, they do 0-60 in the high 2's with a good rider. Post a video next time...

like IMO ... had an YZF-R1 ( ~140 HP on the wheel ), this thing does the 1/4 mile in the mid 9's - BONESTOCK ... if the rider got balls :eh:

... seems like the motoguy has tiny ones

if you survied that dogfight for more than, let's say - 4sec your truck must be damn fast

anyway, nice writeup, man - keep it up

I agree, my Sy is quick but it comes nowhere close to being the GSXR. Forget about being in different leagues, the Sy is playing a different sport when it comes to being quick. I'm a big dude (240) and with a Bolt on pipe and a bone stock bike I ran an 11 flat the third run, carrying the front wheel almost half track, and I had already cut half a second off my times in just two runs. It would take a lot of Sy to outrun a rocket, you must be really quick.

^^^What he said. My RC51 is average as far as sport bike acceleration goes and I still went 10.80s with a headwind at our shitty track. My 60' averaged in the low 1.80s. My worst was a 1.94 when I bogged the hell out of my launch. This was my first and only time at the strip with my bike. It spends all it's time at track days. The average good launch from a SyTy will beat my best 60' but I guarantee you, 9 out of 10 times, that at 61' I will be coming around one in a hurry. That's excluding the new liter 4 cylinders. Strap one down with a good rider and stock motor and they would be hard pressed to be beat by even Robert's Sy.

Re: Raced a GSXR xxxx CC

I have suprised a few R6's in the canyons, one kid later turned out to be a good friend of my brother in law, I walked in on a conversation that went like "Seriously man, all of sudden there was this little black truck that just flew past me in the straights, he had to be doin 110. I thought for sure he was going to send himself into the river. I got on it and just couldnt catch him. At the stop light at the mouth of the canyon, he was power braking and took off like a bat out of hell"

My brother in law with a big smile said "Its sitting in the driveway, and the driver is right behind you"
I do have to say that I have been driving that canyon for 6+years almost daily, and he was relativly new to it.

as an owner of a 92 typhoon and a 01 gsxr 1000, i'll put in my two cents...gixxer guy half assed it off the line, most riders will rely on 2nd gear for anything close to WOT...first is useless at WOT on a litre bike like that...but I'll smoke any but the most built syty's on mine, it's all about the clutch...gotta run alot of rpms on a bike and have a good clutch hand but like i said most riders would rather play catch up than risk dumping themselves on their back and wrecking their bike.

What does your bike run 0-60 ft?

A (generic) 1000 is bad ass,but a (generic) 600 is toast up to about 70 with a decently modded 4.3 Sy/Ty

Oh yeah,Deanssyclone SMOKES 1000's on video

So your point is that your Ty is stock?

Re: Raced a GSXR xxxx CC

I've refrained long enough on this thread but here's some facts. 85% of folks riding bikes don't KNOW how to ride to the limit. I have owned CBR 600's, CBR 900 RR's, a Ducati 748 SPS, and a Aprilia RS250. Believe it or not, the Aprilia RS250 would keep up with the Duck and the 600's straight line acceleration and flat out roast all of them in the twisties so cc's don't mean everything!! I have left GSX-R 1000's, Huyabusa's, YZF-R1's in the distance when hitting the curves. Bottom line from years of seat time; ANY semi-stock bike will be very hard pressed with the best rider to beat a AWD vehicle off the line. Sure you can extend the swing-arm, widen the footprint on the pavement, add nitro but on the street, a modded bike will spin off the line OR hook and loop. The 15% of seasoned riders wouldn't do either. They'd wait to wax you after take-off or during braking/manuevering. Having said that, I think I could be by a Sy or Ty on a 900cc or greater displacement bike within 2-3 seconds :).

different style bike but my old 97 VMAX would 1.65 on occasion and 1.70 every time. Stock with a strapped front end, just like I rode it on the street :D

Much easier bike to launch than any sportbike.
BTW,what was your MPH?

Re: Raced a GSXR xxxx CC

yea, a monkey could launch that bike :rotf: Mph sucked, it had some type of problem where a cyl would drop out at idle. I chased it for a year, constantly fouling plugs, until someone offered to buy it(knowing about the problem). 120 was all it would run in 70+ deg weather

The guy obviuosly couldnt ride the bike....if he passed you 10 seconds later, his mph should have been about 130mph, not 70 ish. Most 1000cc sportbike are easy mid to hig 9 second bikes if the rider can launch the thing....but nonetheless, you got that guy good.

I suggest you go to a track & watch stock 1000 CC sportbikes in the 1/4 mile.

Most guys are not running mid to high 9's

Only on specially prepped bikes are doing that or a professional rider. :2cents:

Only because most guys can't ride a bike anywhere near its potential. Riding a MC is an art and you have to be able to skillfully master every aspect of it to get a bike in the 9's. On average, I'd guess most of these bikes are running mid 10's at tracks. Got out of bikes in 2004 so that is just a guess....

Deanssyclone is pushing 740hp last i heard him say...i'd say that qualifies as a pretty damn built syty

My 03 GSXR ran 9.6-9.8 range in the 1/4 mile w/a pro rider, bikes now are not that much quicker, just mainly MPH is up because of more HP they are getting & a bit lighter.

These sport bikes are hard to get to run what the pro riders are publishing in mags, plus, most of the times they do not tell you the little tricks they do to get it to run that fast.

Re: Raced a GSXR xxxx CC

Moral of the story is, the guy had to work for his win. I don't get why everyone always starts talking about seasoned riders and professional drivers, as if you cant **** up launching a SYTY. Any way you look at it, I come out looking good, taking a bike off the line is impressive period, even if you lose at the other side of the intersection. Hell its just plain funny at the least. You should see most peoples faces when they catch up at the next light after you put 2-5 cars on a damn street bike, its hilarious. And just so everyone knows, the world, let alone the street, is not crawling with professional race car drivers and Super bike riders, they are professionals and get paid to do it on the track and probably spend the majority of their time their, so at the end of the day, who gives a shit who the rider is? He either sucks or he doesn't. And if he does, thats good for me

Now I believe I said "Most 1000cc sportbike are easy mid to high 9 second bikes if the rider can launch the thing."....remember, reading is fundamental.

I personally know people including myself that are by no means PROFFESSIONAL RIDERS, just good street riders that have broken into the 9s with a completely stock late model 1000cc bikes with only the special race prepping of a strapped down front end. Especially GSXRs, ZX10s and although more than 1000cc, the ZX14 and Hayabusa. As for proffesionals, well, once in a while on a Tuesday or Thursday night, you can catch Ricky Gadsen at ATCO RACEWAY.....like I said Mike, you got that guy good and thats all that counts....good job.....keep the kills coming.

Well if it is so easy, you & your friends should run mid 9's,,Let's see your timeslops.

Like I said,,,, a stock bike w/no prepping, that means no tieing/strapping down the front end or anything else for that matter.
I do not need to know you when you say the bikes are easy mid 9-high 9's most guys are not running that like you said most guys are running mid 9, let's see your videos.
