The last two years we have been asked about including racing into the weekend program. Last year there was an auto cross at the fair grounds. A bunch of you participated. I think it was a less than ideal and conflicted with times that made it easy for everyone to get to, difficult to organize with Carlisle as they had many considerations in doing something like that. This year is going to be different......

TEST and TUNE at South Mountain Dragway!

http://www.southmountainraceway.com/

We have been working with the folks at SMD to participate in their Test and tune on Friday night, Aug 5th. Its an 1/8mile track. 8 miles from the fairgrounds. A few of you went last on sunday after the truck nats and I think it can be fun for all.

TENTATIVE PLAN:

The show field and buildings close at 6 pm daily. Friday night we would all cruise out together, and head to the track. We are working with the folks there to have our group be recognized and participate in the test and tune. They were very receptive and excited to have us all come out. They have a gamblers race that we are welcome to participate in, but trying to get our own staging lane so we can race with each other. Its $30 per car to race, but we are working on a group discount. We also asked for our own area so that we can do a group dinner and racing at the track for all to enjoy. We may do a best pass and most improved award or something.

We will have more details as things materialize.

Thanks!

Quite welcome Frank! I'm sure a lot of folks will be excited to run and watch. Hope you bring out those monsters of yours to make some passes!

We are trying every year to make the event better and better and I think this will add a nice component for us all to enjoy!

Last year myself and Noelle ( Tymom) ran there on sunday . They were verry easy to deal with and were happy to see a few of us show up. I think Keith made a few passes too. There is lots of room for trailers too. It was a verry good time. We are definitely in for some racing :tup: NICE JOB TOM !!! And I got a new turbo to test out ;)

I think this is a good idea. Certain member(s) who we will not mention (but if we were to, you would only have to look to the previous post) have had pretty bad luck in the past when autocrossing. I think all of the cladding on the trucks that will be attending just gave a collective sigh of relief secure in the knowledge that this certain individual will not be ramming them into orange cones.

I will bring my own vehicle to race. I know you are nervous that I am faster in yours than you are and that is where all of the angst stems from. You had this mystical belief that I was Senna re-incarnated, when I am more like James May on a good day. In my defense, since it was my first time auto crossing, I thought the goal was to hit as many cones as possible. I kept hearing +2 on the radio, and wanted to get the high score.

I'll be racing whatever truck, or probably car, that I bring this year

Getting my Syclone ready. Picked up a barrel of fresh e85 and did a tune up. Been since last summer I had it out to the track. Hopping the temp drops around here's , been in the 90s everyday. Hoping for some test passes before the meet.
