Racing seats in back seat of Ty?

I'm considering putting racing seats in the front but also have matching seats in the rear of the Ty. Has anyone already done this? I'd like to keep using the stock hardware for seatbelts but have the comfort of reclining racing seats in the back. I've never had more than 4 people in there anyway and the rear seat assembly weighs a LOT.

What kind of seats are you going with ? The red on my seats doesnt match my truck anymore and I have been looking for options .

I've looked at many different designs and materials. I may not use leather. The whole back of the truck will be redone to compensate for the new seats. A lot of space was wasted back there.

I have seen a couple blazers that did custom back seats and both of them bought the full size seats, stripped them and cut the frames down to make the backs shorter.

The seats have to sit higher on the floorboards so its gonan take some customizationt o make it work.
I wanted to do it too until i saw how much work was involved.

Now I think I am just gonna get my corbeaus and my oem back seat recovered to match.

...on a slightly similar topic, it seems "access" to the rear can be a problem for Ty owners

-1.Anything with a 6pt or more rollbar makes it impossible to occupy the rear seats
-2.Anything with a 4pt type rollbar, makes it "iffy" in getting into the back (or passing strip requirements)
-3.Anything with a Harness Bar requires slotting the front seats to make the shoulder straps work
and then the placement of the straps (coming from the floor or ceiling) can "cause" injury
-4.Using a locking seat belt retractor on a 3-pt harness maybe only a temporary restraining device
but its cheap/easy.

So it seems that switching out the seats, adding or not adding a rollbar (or B-pilllar harness bar),
plus deciding on what type of harness straps to use is a major pain the butt (not
mentioning bolting or welding the proper pieces and installing the stuff). Dont known how
easy/cheap "slotting" our seats is either.

I read recently, that "Not wearing a helment" in a 8pt rollcage is REALLY dangerous,
as your head can come into contact with the bars. Go figure....

Welding up brackets won't be so bad. I'll probably buy the brackets and then weld up a frame to bolt it to. Having a welder makes all the difference.

I had a set of Recaro's in the vette. Awesome seats I must say, but expensive. I sold them and put the interior back to stock when I lost intrest in the car...
