Ragtop Sunroof in a Ty???

I was tossing around the idea of installing a ragtop sunroof in my Ty, and was wondering if this has been done before and if so if anybody had any pics id liek to see them, not exactly sure of the size id get, but i like the idea, and think it be pretty unique, but not something that would be considered riced out, or completely ruin the value of the truck come time to sell it.

Or am i way off here and this is something that will ruin the valve and look all riced out??

Would i be disowned from the SyTy community for doing this??

I install moonroofs for a living, and have been toying with the same idea. As far as value to the ttruck it would probably hurt it if you plan on reselling but if your going to keep it then what does it matter. Like mine had a salvage title so to me it wouldn't matter. I just dont like how it looks inside whne installed. But that is my

what's the wind noise like with a top like that? does it effect the structural integrity cutting out such a large chunk of roof?

Well im not sure on the wind noise as ive never riden in or driven a car with a ragtop sunroof, but i dont think structural intrgrity will be compremised at all, seeing as these are full frame vehicles, now in a unibody car i would be more concerned for structrual integrity.

Im not sure if i want to go ahead and install the overhead console and forget about the sunroof, or get the sunroof and i can still install one of the late model factory sunroof overhead consoles that just has the comp and temp and the sunroof switch, woudl be a great looking factory type install when done.

Don't do it.....It's scrilage in the Sy/Ty community......You don't dare want to lower the value of your truck because being stock and a collectors item is the only thing that makes them of any value to anyone. Run AWAY RUN AWAY!!!!!!

Here's a thread that I started awhile back, and the general consensus is that its a bad idea.

IMO, I won't own another vehicle without a sunroof. They make the driving experience so much more enjoyable, and on 4 cars I have yet to have a properly installed roof leak on me. I say DO IT!!!

Well heres how i look at it, If this were a Sy, or my Sonoma GT then no there just isnt enough roof for the sunroof to look right.

But with the Ty thats a different story, and seeing as mine has almost 170K miles, crappy repaint that nees to be redone, some cancer here and there, i think the sunroof will be unique and may not add to the value of the truck, but i dont think anything can make mine worse any less at this point.

Plus the smaller of the 2 roofs i posted about in the first thread, there is a manual version i found on ebay brand new in the box for 200 bucks, so even though id like power, for that deal i think i could live with it.

Rag top bad idea looks cheap and nasty IMO.
Sunroof/moonroof thats way more classy and I agree prolly add value to it.
But a hell of lot more fun to drive. Miss the old TA with t-tops.

If you really want to do something unique and cool for the same effect, find out how to retro-fit the panoramic roof from a Pontiac G6... That might actually be pretty cool... Plus, it should seal better and have less wind noise than the ragtop. :tup:

Webastoalso make a galss roof that is also a sunroof . It is the one that comes in the cadilac srx this thig is huge. That is just another option it opens like a sunroof but lets in all the light.

I think all Sy/Ty's need a GIANT HOLE CUT IN THE ROOF..And a wing,and Lambo doors,and neon,and woodgrain.

Street Beat makes a VW ragtop kit. In the VW community they are known as trash for quality. I have asked MANY MANY people WHY they are junk, and got few replies, so I cant say why. I was going to buy one for my bug, but I decided not to. Theres nothing worse than a big hole in your roof that leaks.
