Ready to smash my starter! help!

I'm going on 2 hours now of trying to install my new mini starter. I cannot, for the life of me, get my hands in there to reconnect both the positive cable and the purple wire. I have already had to put a new connecter on the purple wire TWICE due to it getting pulled off. I've tried bolting the starter up first, then leaving it loose, then wiring it prior to bolt up, and nothing is working. I've walked away and returned a few times, but I am loosing my patience big time. I have the wheelhouse out and still cannot get my hands in there to thread the bolts with the downpipe in the way...

Any tips or tricks would be Huge right now. I am getting ready to take off the dp as a last ditch effort, which I want to avoid at all costs...

Thanks

It is not that hard. I have done a few. Like mentioned earlier, put wires on before you mount it. Be sure the battery is disconnected as well.

Be sure the battery is disconnected as well.

That is important. You can (and most likely will when irritated) hit the hot wire onto something metal under the truck and it will at minimum scare you and then you drop the starter on your face.

+1!
That happened during the rebuild. Truck came to life. Almost literally scared the shit out of me.

Re: Ready to smash my starter! help!

Starter is in....no cranking. No power through the purple wire when the key is in the "start" position. It looked fine when I was down there. Guess I know how I will be spending Sunday morning:squint:
