Rear hitting frame!

I lowered my TY with 2" lowering blocks, now its bottoming out (rear hitting frame) my blisting shocks may be worn out. What would be the best fix ? Q1A adjustable shocks, extra leaf spring ?, coilovers (dont want to raise rear) no fiberglass springs.

Thanks..

Frame notch?

I'm pretty sure we have the same frame, so this would work for you.

Did you take out the bumpstops?
And stiffer shocks do help, alot.

Careful with that - I think with the bump stops out, the next thing that hits is the tires on the cladding.

Or the shocks bottom out and get ruined. Do yourself a favor and put the bump stops back in..

Yup... I ran mine for a few miles and the tires will end up hitting the cladding.. I cut the bump stops on mine thinking it would be better that just taking them out.. They hit still.. So right now it sits at stock height until I can find some time to throw in some 1" blocks. Also try and cross reference some shocks that are a little shorter.. You want to stay in the "Sweet Spot" of the shock. If the shock is compressed too far, it wont function correctly. Once I put mine back to stock, it was stiff. When it was lowered 2" it was way soft as if I had blown or old shocks. They were brand new.

Same thing here after lowering, the shocks didn't function as they should after dropping 2" the shocks were compressed to far so I had the same feeling and constant hitting the stops.
And cause I've fibeglass leafs i'm sure thinking about the 2 way adjustable QA1's, with ride limiters on the shocks instead of bump stops.or some sort of (airride bags. which are almost same $.
I also like the frame notch part from suicide a lot, but also thinking it will hit the cladding.

Re: Rear hitting frame!

Good point guys (cladding) thanks.
The shocks stayed in stock locations, only the dif moved 2" up. I first cut the stops abit because they where hitting, then cut more, seamed good. After doing hard takeoffs, the rear started to bottom out.
Today, after doing alot of looking at all the options, i ordered monroe load level shocks ($124.00 both)
they are coilovers with 250 pounds of progresive springs (each) and lifetime waranty and will not raise the back.
Let you know how they worked out.

Hope that works.. But the next time I lower mine 2", I am going to look for shocks that are also 2" shorter so that they function correctly.. Its the only way.

Re: Rear hitting frame!

If you guys are lowering using lowering blocks then you are not changing where the shocks are at ride height. The blocks simply move up the axle leaving that shock mount in its original location. If you are de-arching your springs or using lowering springs then you are causing the shocks to be more compressed.
