Rear tires skipping in tight turn since new

rear differential cover install this weekend.

I installed a MAC aluminum carrier unit cover (one of the sweet looking thick aluminum ones) and the rear wheels kind of skip, lock, go, lock, go when making a real sharp turn slowly. Did I screw something up? The cover has the two rods that you tighten to hold the bearings firm although I torqued them to spec. What going on here?

Did you put any limited slip additive in when you refilled the diff?
If not, you need to.

Good call on the limited slip additive although I didn't think this was required with the Amsoil 80-90 weight synthetic lube.

How much of this additive shall I add to the 2.5 quarts of gearlube?

Thanks!!

I would say it depends on the brand used.
You can get it from GM. Redline & Lubeguard also make such additives.

That or you have too much preload on the bearings.

Recheck the preload bolts on that cover and maybe back them off a few lb/ft and see if that makes a diff...
