Rear wheel spacers and studs questions-

Re: Rear wheel spacers and studs questions-

They are the original 4-door springs. I suspect they are sagging some over the years and I have 2" blocks on them. I modified the location of the centering hole on the blocks so that my axle would be centered in the wheel opening.

Now that I FINALLY have the cladding done I've realized that I need to drop the back at least another inch. I'm not a fan of lowering blocks and I'd prefer not to use anything larger than 2". That being said I'm either going to try to find some Ty springs cheap or I'm going to attempt to de-arch the springs I have. Either solution will be short term as I eventually plan to 4-link the back and use coil-overs..

Another shot to show how the back sits just a bit too high:

Matt thanks for your info! We crossed paths here a few years back when you were in the midst of the 4dr cladding extension. Looks PERFECT!

I just saw Belltech drop springs on sale for s-10 for $120 from JCWhitney. They say 3" drop but the reviews guys said 1.5" Mine sag and have no lift but my picture is with 245/65r17=29.4" tall! So I will have some extra space to get rid of and don't like the idea of blocks either. I think I could be happy with 1.5" with a good spring. Do you have a front coilover conversion? Your front rake looks about like mine. Thanks for a different shot there!

Good times!

Re: Rear wheel spacers and studs questions-

I used a 2" adapter on my S10 for over 10 years and 200k miles. I even used to carry fairly moderate loads in it as well, never had an issue. I've also run a .75" adapter on my Regal at the drag strip (on the front drive wheels) to fit a 10.5" slick on it, never an issue.

If you buy a good brand you won't have issues.

Hey I really appreciate your experience. This is what I needed to hear. I'm shopping for an adapter.

Good times!

Thanks for the info on those springs. Coil-overs, rack and pinion, and 2nd gen dual piston brakes up front.

No rack and pinion but I'm running a quick-steer box that cut a full revolution out of the stock '91 box lock to lock, and also using 2nd gen dual piston calipers...in fact I think that is where we crossed paths in '08 when I was doing my front and rear disc brakes and coil overs...how time flies!

I'd probably do something like that also but since I only plan to run this setup 1 summer I'm looking for a cheap way out... Hopefully next winter I will have time to 4-link the rear..

I hear ya' but a 4 link isn't in my plans. I am on a tight budget too and will probably go with a 2" block. When you installed the block did you notice a negative change in ride or handling? Are you running stock shocks or drop shocks? Thanks again for you time and information, good to get 4dr love and experience.

KYB Monomax in the back. No negative change with just 2 inches. I suspect when I drop it another inch or so I'll be hitting the bumps stops more often which I won't like. Its such a trade-off.. You either get that nice low look and a crappy ride or it sits a bit higher than you like but the ride is acceptable.

I'm hoping that with a 4-link, coil-overs, and maybe some progressive bump-stops I can have the low look with an acceptable ride..

I have the belltech springs on my blazer. They do provide about 3" of drop. On syty's its only about 1 1/2" because they are already lower than a regular s10/15. I'm not sure about wheel hop, because mine is lowered 6" in the back, I'm not really hot rodding it around. Amazon has them for $120 each with free shipping, if that helps any

Edit: just noticed you said JC Whitney has free shipping also, so same price

Hey thanks TeeTopZ for your information! You helped me accept that adapters have come a long way since the pot metal days! I'm looking at the Eibach ones and other than being as much as buying custom wheels I think I can get over it. Maybe.

Those are the only style of spacers I'd ever use, especially after my buddies wheel flew off at 65mph.

Exactly! Also how do you have your front end aligned with your coil overs, oem settings? Thanks also for steering me to the adapters!

I used Jeff's alignment suggestions...

CASTER: +7deg (both sides must be the same)
CAMBER: -1/4 to -1/2 Degree
Toe-In: 1/8"

Hello.
Can you please explain, is caster is +7deg for both wheel separate and toe-in for both wheels total?
Because I have heard that from factory they have:
Caster: +3,5 ±0,5
Camber: 0,0 ±0,5
Toe-in per wheel: +0,15 ±0,05

The extra caster helps with more camber when you turn.

With the coil overs there is a bit of difference from stock alignment specs. I was just curious as to what Matt was running for alignment since he has a very similar front coil over conversion setup as mine. I am getting some scuffing on super sharp turns, like at lock. Worse than when stock however, I am running 2001 lower control arms so that I could run the Xtreme front sway bar (33mm). Actually they are the Extreme lower control arms. I shaved down the turn stops to get maximum turning radius. Little hard on CV joints though.

Good times!
