rebuild stock turbo with TD06 + 60-1 Wheel

Since I got the motor out for a rebuild, thinking of refreshing the turbo also. Was thinking of going this route. Looks like a simple bolt together.

Not sure how it will spool with the stock turbine shaft? Would removing the cat-converter help spool time? My truck has it removed. The stock turbo spools extremly fast, Im thinking it should work ok with the upgraded wheel?

Yep, it has a place for you to drill & tap for a vacuum fitting.

It will spool just fine, probably will not help a whole lot with just a larger compressor wheel.
The exhaust side is really restrictive.

What would compliment a larger compressor wheel would be a larger higher flowing turbine wheel.

You would have to get your turbine housing machined to fit the larger "H" sized wheel.
I would get the assembly balanced.

Having a turbo like that would give you more power, not much slower spool-up because you would still have a 8 CM turbine housing.:2cents:

Just something to think about.

Is this part a direct replacement for the stock turbo exhaust side or is machining required???

Both turbine wheels I posted a link to require machining. Same size as the larger "H" turbine wheel.
The 20G turbo has the larger turbine wheel. TD06H-20G.

I believe most any turbo shop will machine your turbine housing to fit the larger "H" turbine wheel for about $100.

IMO, this would be a worth while upgrade to improve exhaust flow, & not having to run a looser converter than stock. Quick spool-up & deliver better top end pull.:2cents:
