Rental Car Racing

Gotta tell the story-

Roll up to the rental place....tell the rental dude we need something to ghost ride in.....he says they're all out of full size rides that I reserved....but I can take an Explorer. I tell him I need something I can race....without skipping a beat he says "I got a Magnum out back". That'll work. BDubb wouldn't let the auto stick out of 2nd gear all the way back to the hotel.....so we were cruising at redline until the exhaust got so hot, the heat started coming through the floorboard. The icing on the cake was hiding the dozen timeslips in the owner's manual.

Step One- Remove the hood for the obvious ram air effect-

Step Two- Remove the interior (before we removed the passenger seat)-

Have Andrew explain the technique-

We were also impressed a SoCal Sy/Ty remained from SIX years ago!

I had an awesome time and it was great to make a return after 5 years away from the Nats. My Ty has got to make another appearance next year even if it means driving it across the country with no A/C, making an 11 sec pass (I don't even think I saw an 11sec Ty this year?) and driving all the way back home. Why did I sell my Tahoe again? :banghead:

Re: Rental Car Racing

This is JUST a glimpse of syty nats and a post that should be put into come to nats thread before next years 10th annual.

The video is great, but for those that were not there doesn't even hint at all the fun that car was.

How many timeslips did you get anyways? I know the goal was 100

Brain, let me know if you want me to merge your old account with this one or your new one with your old one, either way the old one is fixed now.

Great post by the way

Re: Rental Car Racing

The best run was 15.89 (it was a V6  ) it ran between 15.9-16.2 all day....our goal was 100 passes but we only got in a dozen or so....we didn't want to jack too much time from the Sy's & Ty's of course.

There is a pic out there somewhere of Morgan sitting in the front seat we ripped out in the staging lanes.....he was recovering from his injury in the foot race.....classic.

I definately want to see some Cali plates next year for the 10th anniversary of the Nats.

There were a couple of fast white Ty's out there this year running 12.20's consistantly....and they we clean too.....I have a lot of tuning to do, but my Nats experience this year definately gave me the kick in the ass I needed!

Does anyone have video of Sean doing drifting laps around the parking lot and driving right over the curbs?? I didn't have my camera that time.

Re: Rental Car Racing

We need to collect some of these quotes for use in next years nats advertising.

And I need to make a side bet with Brian who can bring there truck next year. Heck I may start a thread on it.
