Rip #1879

I owned her for about two years before she was killed. I was leaving work and pulled out into my lane going eastbound. The girl from the coffee shop down the street started pulling out to go westbound when I was about 30-40ft from her. The speed limit on that road is 35mph so there was no way I could have stopped in time but I still slammed on my brakes hoping she'd just keep pulling out. When she saw me though, she stopped right in the middle of my lane. I went to swerve around her and almost made it but she rabbited at the last second. I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking. She admitted to the police officer that she didn't even look my direction prior to pulling out, I had a very kind old black lady who saw it, and she was issued a ticket. They cashed me out on it for more then I thought I would get. I really do miss this car so much.

Re: Rip #1879

Yup. I didn't get to see the full extent of the damage but it was pretty bad. I tried to pry the hood open but I couldn't...

Re: Rip #1879

Easy fix IMO.

This was my typhoon when I bought it and it turned out to be repairable to point I bet most people can't find any signs of it.

Your Typhoon looked to be nice condition. It would be fixable in the right hands. IMO your typhoon would be a better starting point than many of the project trucks I see for sale these days. I hope it goes into the right hands to fix it up.

I'd fix that too. I'm guessing the insurance company has possession now?

Where are you from?

It sucks, and it will be a decent amount of time/money/sweat but she's fixable compared to what others (self included) have been through.

I'm guess by the fact that you already received a check that the insurance company has it? What did they want to buy it back? Did this accident happen a while ago or recently?

Re: Rip #1879

It happened over a month ago. It got into the frame rails and bent the front of them sideways. When I took it to the body shop for them to hold it until the insurance made up their mind, they said that it wouldn't be close to the same car if we put it on the rack and tried to bend it back. They gave me 12.5k for it. It only had 87k on the ODO.

I guess it depends were the impact was, I have seen alot of s-trucks that look bad but the hit barely touched the rail.

Re: Rip #1879

It's probably already long gone and I bought a new car. The body shop said I'd need to probably get a new frame to make it right again. The adjuster said the samething when I asked about buying it back. It got mashed hard. If I had thought it could be rebuilt reasonably, I would have done it. Seeing as I already have one project (64 elky) two would have been too much. Plus it was my daily so I didnt have a car.

Re: Rip #1879

Don't blame you for taking money and going another direction. Hopefully the truck surfaces and gets repaired. Now to see who can track it down.
