Re: Roberts Syclone

Jeff,
I can only imagine the work you all went through to get that truck over hear and get everybody to the nats for a great time. My hats off to you and anyone else who selflessly aided in Roberts journey across the ocean. Hopefully his return trip is as smooth as everything else has looked from this end up till now. I commend Robert on all his hard work, and hope he may consider a return trip for the 10th anniversary next year. I know i am already making preparations to get my truck down there.

Re: Roberts Syclone

I didn't have a clue till I was talking to one of Roberts friends about his 67 Chevy II what it takes to get parts from USA to Sweeden. They have to pay for them, shipping is very expencive, then it go's through customs and then they pay a 40% tax on the part before they recieve it which could take 6 weeks to 3months. WOW..

We call Summit and bitch that it's not going to be here tomorrow.

Robert is a class act. Actually more class than me and 1 of the reasons you have NEVER seen him get into these BS discussions.

Exactly.. very well put.

So are you Jeff... it's hard to not put up your defences for a friend. You guys make a good team.. I only wish he lived closer or could visit more often what a great guy.

Re: Roberts Syclone

the 9.06 was w/o NOS. In fact although we planned to spray I don't think he ever did.

On the last run the track was so slick he lost .1 seconds on the 60ft and was a bit worried something was wrong going down the track with all the popping and noises going on in the right lane. He wasn't sure if it he stayed in it or not.

Friday night track was a lot better, but that is to be expected as street tires tear up tracks.

As for tuning, the only changes made were to remove the rev limiter he put on for shipping. In fact his laptop was left in the tow rig all weekend.
:shocked!: Damm....(Street Driven, No Tuning, No NOS, 1-Run.....)
I dont think Ed nor Hoovers would have had a chance given the above :2cents:
(thanks for posting the followup)

Re: Roberts Syclone

So I was right with the ET's? Cool deal. I was looking through my vid cam's tiny little screen most of the time and when it started getting dark, it wouldn't focus on the times  stupid sony cam.

Either way, Nats was cool! Looking forward to Nats 10.0! :woot:

Re: Roberts Syclone

As said before Robert is a class act.

His Mr. Syclone forum/email handle is truly appropriate. I truly enjoyed my time speaking with Robert and Anders. Seeing his truck in person at the meet & running at the track was amazing and surreal. Anyone at the Nationals who took the time to meet Robert, understands what I am talking about. Those of you who didn't come to the Nats, most likely missed a once in a lifetime opportunity. It was even worth taking a whiff of that rancid fish. I hope the distractions didn't take away from Robert's first nationals as he deserved better than that.

Re: Roberts Syclone

Nice job Jeff for helping Robert!!

Thanks for coming Robert and showing off his awesome truck!!

Wish I could have come....................hopefully next year.

I want to express how impressed I am with how Jeff and Robert have handled this situation. So many people seem to be VERY threatened by the fact that someone (not from the US) has built a wicked fast truck and proved it. I'm not saying that Ed's truck isn't awesome fast............cause 9.13 is one hell of a run and I know there more in that thing yet, but through all the bullshit, Robert and Jeff have maintained my respect with not getting caught up in the bashing of other people and their trucks.

I know what it takes to make a truck, or anything go that fast. Everyone ( Robert, Hoovers, Ed, etc.........) should be proud of what they and others have done in bring the level of competition up in the SYTY world.

I'm not bashing anyone or will I ever................unless it face to face, but I wish everyone would stop crying beacuse someone else has a faster truck.

Good job !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep Goin' Faster !!

Re: Roberts Syclone

My emotions have run the full rounds this past weekend for sure. Probably due to the fact of us spending the last 3 months making this happen, and on top of it finally meeting Robert is person and confirming he is a true friend I will cherrish for a long time.

I have been to 8 nationals now and enjoy every one. Some of them more interesting than others but all good and I will be back. Even though the tension was higher for some us (maybe more than it should be) it was a great event.

Robert and I had a great discussion on the drive back to hotel in his truck, and it was worth the effort. I can tell you due to logisitics, cost, etc. that it won't happen again. Is one of those once in a lifetime events.

All the BS aside after Friday's race Robert had said it was one of the most exciting races in his career. Yes we didn't get to run like we wanted, but we came and showed the truck is just as quick on US ground for sure and had a great time.

I truly hope emotions, etc can be set aside and we can prepare for next year. Roberts truck may not be there, but maybe Robert will, maybe he will be driving my typhoon and bring more can's of swedish whip ass for Vinny to eat? You won't know unless you get ready and prepare for next year.

Sucks to know that I will never see that truck again enless I travel to Europe. (I have a friend in Sweden). On the other hand, if Robert and crew were to fly over for the next Nats...now THAT would be awesome.

Note to Colorado: The truck is 100% legal in the US, per EPA letters, etc. No need to call the US. Govt, DMV, local KC police, etc. We were legal for driving on the street in the US.

Not everone from colorado was involved with that

And Robert's truck is a beautiful machine

Re: Roberts Syclone

Before you guys put it back on the boat you need to spray it at your home track.

Re: Roberts Syclone

Robert is already on his way back via Miami. Only so much we can do.

It obviously is only 1-2 pases from running 8's in US. It just won't happen though.

Re: Roberts Syclone

Hoovers do not have a syty anymore :(
Ed & Robert have solid 9s/high 8s trucks

I bet Bully has it in his truck also, and now that he isn't rushing to get to NATS will probably get the thing tuned properly. We'll see if he actually shares his progress though given all the angst that's been shown both to and from his crew. Hopefully everyone will just calm down and leave it be..I for one would like to see his truck run its best. A low 10 second pass when you can hear the thing cutting out about 15-20 times is very impressive, although painful to watch since you know its pissing the driver the hell off during every pop even more than the backfires scare the hell out of the crowd.

Re: Roberts Syclone

I have talked to Robert for years, met him in person, done business with him, etc. I have confirmed he is a class act.

Now on the other hand I have a guy posting crap about someone on a board of a vehicle you don't own anymore, and talking crap about someone. The jury is still out but I hear they are coming to a conclusion.
