rookie move

cleaning up the Ty today and decided to do a lil scrubby scrub on the grill with some polishing compound to get all the water spots off...

stupid stupid move... i scrubbed right through the grey paint around one of the headlight inserts... I haven't got a clue where to get this paint.

is it spray on? it looks to be the same color as the paint around the gauge cluster and the radio bezel or pretty damn close. I know some of you guys have repainted the dash parts, but I couldn't find anything with the search... err at least nothing that calls out exactly what the paint is or where to get it.

Take the piece to a real paint shop, Like the ones that cater to the industry. They should be able to match it and maybe even put it in a rattle can. Won't be cheap though.

Don't feel bad, I lost my flashlight for a day (my daughter relocated it for me) so I was using my mini spot light in the truck while I was changing the keyless entry module out and then I see smoke...I had set the spot light down in the back floor board about 9" away from the fur on the bottom back side of the front seat and the light was cooking it...needless to say I was pretty un-thrilled with myself.

We all have our days.

ahh i didn't think to search 'paint codes", I was searching for "dash paint" and "grill paint" . Thanks!!!

:rotf: yes... yes they are...

I'm sure I'll figure something out... The custom paint shop in town will probably want $300 to repaint it. But there is a hobby shop down the street with like 200 colors of spray paint, could half ass it and go that route too if they have a color that's close.

Dealership will have paint .Can buy in a rattle.Can go to a paint shop get SEM paint should be able to match if you gave them the paint code.best of luck
