Looking for feedback on Ross and JE pistons.....Good....Bad....or.... Equal?

Is anyone running these pistons with the thermal barrier coatings on them??

I appreciate your feedback.

If you want standard bore, I can get you a set of diamond pistons, I am pretty sure they are top of the line.

I'm sure they do but that wasn't my point. Whats your problem? I have some I can sell for a good price with rods, if it helps someone out that's good.

Re: ROSS or JE pistons

I've used several sets of Ross pistons in several different applications, never had an issue nor have I heard of anyone else having complaints about them.

I've also used a few sets of JE's and have heard nothing but piston slap every single time I start them cold. I've also seen/heard the same thing in alot of other peoples motors and read the countless amount of posts across different forums of people bitchin about JE's slappin while cold. I do not recommend them at all. My new-to-me Syclone with a fully built motor (5k miles on it) has JE's in it and guess what? They slap like a mofo til it warms up. Guess what's getting removed this winter? Those POS JE pistons.

A lot of forged pistons do that. It is actually normal from my understanding. I will say that mine didn't do it for the short time it ran but I was told by every machine shop in town they would do it, so I wrote it off as normal. I have an 01 Silverado with the 8.1, I do not know what kind of pistons it has but they slap until warm up as well. I am told it is normal, I am thinking they may be forged but can't imagine a factory running forged pistons. :2cents:
