Rough week for me

Well, I am finally back home, though bruised and swollen. Last Thursday afternoon, I was preparing to ride my mountain bike and was hit from behind by a car/truck which fled the scene. My son found me face down 1/2 way in the ditch. EMS arrived and I was life-flighted to Nashville and became aware of things when the rotor blades "woke" me up. Have a broken right jaw and right cheek bone with numbness to the right side of my face and have to eat through a straw but I can walk and remember everything before the impact and after placement into the helicopter. Makes one realize just how fragile life really is. Will take some time but I hope to be back to 100% soon. Just wanted to say sorry for listing some items for sale and then dis-appearing for a while. My inbox is overflowing...

Are you going to have to deal with any long term damage?

Holy s!*t T-Bone! Sorry to hear about that, I hope you make a quick and complete recovery. Hopefully that @sshat gets caught somehow.

Damn , really sorry to hear that happened to you. Really pisses me off that some a-hole hits you and leaves. Take care of your self and get all healed up.

Kidding aside, that is seriously no good. SO very glad to hear you werent hurt worse than you were. Heal up soon!!

The numbness has me concerned a bit but the Trauma Surgeon said it is somewhat common when swelling is involved. I sporadically get sharp pains in the lower back portion of my noggin above my neck but they quickly subside so who knows? The team at Vanderbuilt seemed to think since I am in good physical shape and somewhat young, I should bounce back given time.

This all occurred about 10 miles from where I live while visiting friends. Lots of tobacco fields around with illegal immigrents working so it is possible whoever hit me didn't have a license, insurance OR proper documentation to even be in this country. Unless someone comes forward from a guilty conscience, we may not know the details this side of eternity. Just glad to be back home with the wife and children and not be in a vegetative state!

Wow T-bone.... I guess I would consider you lucky.... seems that a lot of those vehicle/bicycle encounters are fatal :(
Wife and I wish you best of luck in your recovery... take things slow.... the body can take a while to readjust/heal after those big impacts.

....bright side... if you're an avaition enthusiast at least you got to ride in a helicopter :D ...at least that's what my brother said after his life-flight for his heart attack!

Shaun,

Sorry to hear about what had happened. I hope you have a good recovery. Just remember if the guy doesn't come forward everything will come back to him sevenfold. But I am glad that you are stll with us.

Sorry to hear about the accident, but glad to know you are getting better. I can't imagine riding down the road and seeing my Dad lying in the ditch. I sure hope that who ever did it, their legs grow together and the get shingles. Good luck with the recovery.
