Rubber elbows for A2A any good ?

Well i'm looking at the options for plumbing my intercooler thats not going to require me to take out a freaking loan. I was ready to order some of the elbows i need from www.intakehoses.com but i'm worried the rubber might not hold up, I don't really think this is going to be a long term solution but i need to get this truck running. And for the first 1000 miles i will be running no boost till the motors broke in and then i'm going to work into the boost pretty slowly eventually i'll end up 14-23lbs of boost area but that may not even happen before winter hits at the rate this is going now lol.

So what about using those cobra elbows under boost ?

Where do you guys get your stuff from for your A2A setups ?

The hose is definitely going to be good to 23lb. How well it holds is only as good as how it is clamped; rolled bead on the intercooler and T-clamps might be a good way to go.

Re: Rubber elbows for A2A any good ?

are you just talking about using the cobra elbows for the inlet of the turbo? if so...that'll work for any boost amount. I wouldn't use the elbow for the ic piping personally....its a very pliable rubber that i don't think would hold pressure well unless you clamped the hell out of it

I consistently popped holes in rubber couplers in my Eclipse GSX with 22psi... They get hot on the pre-intercooler side and then bulge out and burst. Dont do it, get reinforced silicone.

Hey sorry i didn't post back in this i actually thought it got deleted somehow lol i looked twice and didn't see it and wasen't showing up on my list in cp.. lol.

So no go on the rubber ? I am looking for somewhere decent to get the couplers and 90's just haven't figured out EXACTLY what i need yet and at 30-40 a elbow i'm not buying multiples for no reason.

Also that chevelle and galant is nuts.. And i this those Mallet ls conversion pontiacs are like a hour from my house in ohio if i'm remembering right.

I have always run the Autozone 2" rubber radiator hose from my PT51 turbo to my stock intercooler, hovering directly over the hot turbine housing, and haven't had any problems. I've run up to 25 PSI Boost and ran 11.70's. My advice would be keep that $40 silicone stuff on the shelves and try the rubber. You could replace the rubber 3 times before you approached the cost of the silicone "eye candy".

Re: Rubber elbows for A2A any good ?

Radiator hoses are usually reinforced with nylon. Rubber couplers are not... Silicone isn't just eye candy, although it does look nice, It's functional as well because you will never have to replace it or have a blow out when your driving somewhere.

I've been a couple days trying to find 3" 90's in radiator hose.. i think i'm going to run silicon before the inercooler and rubber after.. or suck it up spend the extra 100-125 dollars and get all silicon...
