I've done some searching the last few days to see why one of these hasn't been done up for the SyTy crowd. As a crossover from the Buick GN scene, I have used the Scanmaster on the Buick for almost 10 years and found it to be almost a requirement to have. Now with the Typhoon, I find that I really need something like this for just regular day to day driving.
I know the guys that invented and make the Scanmaster and have beta tested alot of different electronic devices they have made and everything they do works perfectly. I have sent an email to Bob Bailey to see just how doable this is. I have sent him ECM wiring diagrams, serial data among other things for him to review. This is a very good possiblity and a product that once you have it, you will wonder what you did without it. From my searching this has come up from time to time and just sorta fizzles out for whatever reason. I'm not going to let this happen here, this device is too important not to have and I will persue this even if it winds up being a one off for me
For those of you not familiar with the Scanmaster, it is a self contained scan tool that is no bigger that a pack of 100 length pack of smokes. It can be mounted on top of the dash for easy viewing or wherever you prefer. It displays the scan data from the aldl port from o2 and knock retard readings to BLM and INT, just a whole slew of things. Best thing is you don't have to lug around a laptop with this. Now this doesn't replace the Datamaster or TunerPro but what it does is allow you to monitor your goings-on in the ECM at all times at a nice easy glance at the dispaly. Here is a link to the Scanmaster manual for the GN just to get familiar with just what it does http://www.fullthrottletech.com/showthread.php?t=1488
I do not know what the price will be on this if it happens. The prices for the current Scanmasters vary from $249-$300, so if I had to guess it would be within that range. I would say the more that is SERIOUSLY interested the closer the price would be to $250, but I just don't know. I also know from the searching that I have done that if there were 30 people or more to do this then they would go full steam ahead. I also know that in the past when they were approached to do this they had other projects going that demanded most of their time, like the Translator Pro and Powerlogger. Those products have already been released and I'm hoping that they will have enough time to put to this if we can get the interest up.
If you are truly interested in this then post up here, the more serious interest the better the chance this happens. I know alot of Buick guys have crossed over to the SyTy and I know that they would be onboard from using the Scanmaster in the past. So go ahead and post up, check out the link above and I promise you that if this happens you will not regret getting one and you will wonder what you did without it. Thanks!! ( and sorry so long

The above would be more of the capibilities the Scanmaster would do for the SyTy since the SyTy ECM is much, MUCH better than the GN's ECM. Thanks!!!!!!
