SCCA Time Trial Video Clip

I'm beginning to build some speed with my new chassis setup. The R compound tires are heat cycled to death, but come up to temp nice after about 2 laps. Brakes are absolutely fantastic especially since I added brake cooling ducts. I can run street compound pads w/o worrying about a meltdown. Managed to get as fast as 112 mph through the esses! The truck has plenty of grip through them, but I haven't grown big enough balls yet to try and push it faster through there. Can't wait to get the new motor in which will really help with handling, acceleration and braking.

Enjoy!

nice vid, seems like it's really enjoyable to drive it at the track the way you build it.. good work!

Way Cool. What kind of speeds are you seeing down the stretch?

People in the office are wondering why I'm yelling "get him, get him" at the screen. :)

When you are driving, there is a distinct "click", is that the shrifter?

What kind of temps is the 80e running on the course like that?

I dont know what I would think if I saw a truck pull up to our road courses. Thats pretty cool.

I didnt even think they let trucks run in SCCA and NASA?

Instead of gunning it down the end of the main straight and braking before the esses, I get up to about 112 and maintain the speed through the essess. Some people have had success with both methods. I don't want to upset the truck by breaking hard at say 130 mph down to 112 as I don't feel confident enough to trail brake at that speed and risk off tracking it.

Re: SCCA Time Trial Video Clip

The click could be a couple of things depending on where on the track you noticed it. The relay for the paddle shifter clicks every time you engage the paddle, but I'm not sure you can hear that with all the wind and engine noise. I'm thinking it's the Art Carr gate shifter when I put it into 3rd from 4th in the double apex turn at the bottom of the track before turning back up the hill. Anyway to get engine braking in 4th?
Could be the relay clicking inside the TCI Tranny Control Unit when I hit the brakes.
Trans temp hovers between 198-202 with ambient temps around 85 degrees, a large front mount Setrab cooler http://www.bakerprecision.com/setrab.htm and a huge capacity billet TCI tranny pan (think it took 16 quarts!) http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=TCI%2D278010&N=700+4294922122+400252+4294904036+115&autoview=sku

Clicking could be the rocks hitting the fenderwells on the rumble strips.

Getting there. Should be better with the new lighter, more powerful motor (waiting on parts from RPM) and better driving lines.

Those temps are great. The engine breaking is out in fourth unfortunately. It has to be off for it to go into OD. I had a big long explanation but no one would read it so I erased it.

Please PM me on the explanation. The more I know about the 4l80E the better.

I bet it would be more fun too. Late brake and accelerate real hard out. It's always nice to have it in gear. Specially thru the turns.

I'm interested in the long explanation as well.
