Sealed hub ABS sensor vs. external sensor

I bought TIMKEN 513124 wheel hub/bearings from RockAuto. They came with the ABS sensor sealed inside the bearing assembly. When I took apart my truck for installation, it had the sensor mounted to the dust shield with reluctor wheel on the hub. If I remove the old sensor from the dust shield the new TIMKENs will bolt up and the new harness will plug in like normal. But I would like to know if the new style sensor in the TIMKEN has a signal compatible with the old sensor. I have not been able to find info on interchangeability. Has anyone done this?

They will work. I have had these on the sy for a few hundred miles without issue.

If I were you I would be seriously careful and maybe even replace with the correct part. I asked the same question on s10forum and so far the only reply is:

"They will not bolt up by the by. The depth on the back of the hub is to tall and won't go all the way into the spindle."

So I took a look at the two styles side by side and he is correct. The newer sealed style is about 1/8" deeper and will likely bind when the hub is bolted into place. I'm going to get the correct part.
