Seat flop Kit

Does anybody know if the seat flop kit mod for ty's was a recall?
I went to purchase one from GM dealer and they wanted $170.00.
I talked to the manager and he told me if I could provide him with a campaign number, they could give it to me. I haven't found any reference to a national recall campaign number. I had them double check that price and was told some dealers are even getting more money for them. I can't beleve any one is paying that much for what amounts to a couple small brackets and funky bolts.

I have a printout from 1994 when I had my then S-10 Blazer fitted with this kit and it has some kind of Chevrolet code # on it, but I don't know if its a "campain" or a "recall" #. It also has a labor code to be used if the vehicle was repaired under warranty.

I can e-mail this to someone to host if they want.

it's not a campaign / recall. it's just a fix for an annoying problem. there was a service bulletin on it.

the part is discontinued. however, you may be able to find it sitting on a shelf at a another dealer's parts warehouse like I did thru a parts locate at a dealer.

find them no problem? how are you locating them? somone have a stockpile of them somewhere?

I guess so, my dealer made a few calls and found them in stock at a few dealerships. I had one shipped but returned it after finding out about the price. Found out it was never a recall. Best deal they would do for me was direct cost ($120.00)

easy, you can do one of 2 things.....

1. remove that little flapper thingy that covers the cargo area when the back seat is down.

2. the reason the seat flops forward during braking is cause the damn "spring" (piece of metal rod with a loop) that holds that flapper up and allows it to go down when the seat goes down has so much damn tension on it, it basically pushes the seat forward.
If you "dearch" (remove some tension) that spring the seat will stop flopping.

*Note, removal of the center nut or the spring itself will result in the flapper thing falling back into the cargo area, it need some tension, just not as much as GM thought it needed.

I dont need the flapper, I have a sub box in the back, thats the only reason I removed it.
