shifting issues

I have an 86 s-10 Blazer, 2WD. I put a 350 SBC and an older 700R4 tranny in it. I installed a SY/TY console in it. I hooked up the linkage with the tranny and shifter in "P". To be in "D" on the Tranny, I'm in the "1" position on my shifter. Is it due to the age difference of the 700R4 I have, and the early 90s R4s that the SYTYs were running? Do I have to get a SY/TY tranny? Sorry, this may be a simple solution to guys, but I have no idea. Again, my blazer is a 2WD, with an older 700R4 in it amd a SY/TY console/shifter

Sounds like you got a nice Blazer. Any pictures? Did you get the shifter linkage straightend out?

Did you get the correct SyTy shifter cable to go with it? Sounds like your adjustment is off.

I got the right shift cable, just didn't get any of the hardware to connect it to the tranny.

Could be a different linkage on the side of the trans? If the trans linkage is for a column shifter I don't think it will be the same for a floor shifter. They use I different throw linkage if I'm not mistaking

i have the wrong hardware, a guy sent me a pic of the correct hardware. I'm currently using a generic B & M linkage hardware kit. It's not the right stuff.


I'm waiting on a member who said he has one, he just needs to get to them.

Once I have the correct hardware, there shouldn't be a problem.
