Oh its on buddy....bring it. Youre just lucky I smashed the transmission on Round 2 after watching me shave time off every single run I did :)

I might just have to let you drive my truck, take the whole equation of mods and differences in trucks out of the equation and just level it out at pure driver skill.

;)

lol

From what i can recall there were a few modded trucks that wasn't to much faster than my pos stocker! I hope to find a few more ponies by then!

Heavily modded trucks aren't always great performers in a slalom. You are probably simply an above average driver. Think about it.....NC has some great curvy roads to hone the skills. About the only curves in Florida are the entrances onto the Interstate (or toll roads), which helps identify why Adam can nail the right turns in a Slalom but struggle with the left turns, costing precious seconds. Not saying he can't drive b/c he can; he simply executes in competition at a grand-paw pace :).

I have a feeling he will raise the bar next year (a couple tenths anyway). That should put him in the top 5; top 10 for sure.

Oh hell no you didnt....

Hold on a sec, lemme go dig up the pic of the AutoX results and post it.... I believe your best was 38 seconds...mine was 39. Even so, just to give you the benefit of the doubt cause you had race tires compared to my cheapo tirerack $89/per specials...but.....we BOTH were running in Porsche/GTR territory.

BTW, that last 39 sec run of mine.... I had one of the event officials in my truck doing his best to hang on for dear life.

When pulling off the course, I asked if he had any feedback to contribute so I could learn more. His response:

"I had absolutely no idea what to expect from this thing. I dont have anything I could tell you.."

Yeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhh, thats right. :myclone:

If I remember right from the videos I've seen of the last autox.....I would think you wouldn't want much of a modified setup at all. Seems like you would just be looking for a lot of low end torque and quick spool time.

I have stock suspension other than being lowered and caltracs. If given the choice, id like to have coilovers just to reduce bodyroll and go into corners harder, but that knocks you into a different class.

The only issue I ran into was basically being on the verge of lighting the brake pads on fire. I had to sit out a few runs just to let the brakes cool. The first turn and last turn out of the course were killers.

Re: Shindig 2012 Location (Poll)

yea...I'm unfamiliar with the classes and mods and stuff. I've been out of autox for way to long. If I make it out there...and decide to run my truck....it would just be for fun and would be in a heavily modded class....which would pretty much put me at the bottom of the pack.....lol.... So yea....it would just be for the good time.....

Oh my; you got my stomach churning. Haven't chuckled this good in a while. I knew that top 5 / top 10 finish comment would set a wild fire :). Just glad you are a good sport about it and for the record, I know you can drive.....Harman is still to be proved.

Tires....those GY F1 tires are 6 years old. Still good tires but the oils are long evaporated reducing the amount of pliability in them. I am coming with my gun cocked next year though in a totally different Ty and fully expect to bust a low 37. Would bring the Beasty Sy since it weighs about 600 pounds less and churn out a 36 or so but I'll wait until the Ty is threatened first.

Enjoying the "autox war" between Shaun and Adam, but Shaun's post reminded me of something......just so everyone knows, the autoX course will be a different setup for 2013. Times that you ran in 2011 won't correlate at all to the course for 2013. It will still be technical with a nice launch area and no quick switchbacks (you're welcome Ty owners), but the layout itself will be unique.

My advice (for what it's worth): run some local events and familiarize yourself with some of the technical obstacles common to an autoX course. While the layout of each course is different, the technique used in a lot of situations will be the same. For instance, whether you approach a slalom from a brake zone or from a decreasing radius left, the way you handle the slalom itself will usually be the same. Now that's not to say that all slaloms are the same.....some have tighter cone placement, some are 10 cones long vs 5 cones long vs whatever, some are offset, etc...., so run as many different courses as you can. Learn how to handle offsets, gates, clumps, chicago boxes, offset entry/exit slaloms, etc... The skill-set will assist you no matter what course we throw at you.

Anyone in the GA area that wants to ride along with me at some events next year, feel free. I'll have the Syclone at several of them and will be co-piloting my buddy's Solo National Tour car.

Im always up for good clean bench racing, part of what makes planning the event and the hype so much fun.

Im ready. Sy is currently being tuned and is slowly going into beast mode with how well its running. Still needs more tweaks, but its probably the fastest its ever been thanks to Hood. Then again, I still have plenty of time to break it again too....
