shock problem

well i went to replace my shocks today among other things and the front shock on the passenger side had the upper bolt seized in the sleeve in the bushing of the shock. i've beat on the bolt, put a c-clamp w/ collars to try and press the bolt out, but almost snapped the c-clamp. i'm running out of options here, does anyone have any ideas besides a torch? i'm kinda leary about any heat there cause the old shock is nitrogen charged and i'd hate to blow it up.

Re: shock problem

it's the shock mount by the down pipe. i've managed to cut one side w/ my cut off wheel but i'm having trouble getting to the otherside.

Re: shock problem

Did you cut the top part of the bolt head, or the threaded end off? Either way you should be able to tap it out with some effort. Maybe throw some WD-40 in there before you start tapping. I had to do something like this on a old 51 Chevy pickup I took down to the frame. The stearing box was like this. I cut the head off, and sprayed some PB Blaster on it, let it sit for 5-10 and took a punch and hit it out. Might help.. :dunno:

Re: shock problem

i finally got it, i cut the threaded end off inside the shock mount and then managed to drill perpendicular through the bolt on the other side inside the shock mount and then just cut what little was left out w/ a chisel. what a ****in head ache. i hope the other three come off easier than that
