Re: Silly hatchback
This is pretty much why i stopped messing with my CRX. I got tired of being associated with "kids" who put loud mufflers on a crappy civic and think its cool. My CRX ran 13.5xs @ 104-108 mph with 2.2xs 60 fts on regular old nitto 205-40-16 street tires with a stock 1.6 dohc vtec and a 50 shot of nitrous. It was a blast. Not many SyTy's that could do that for over 2 seasons without even changing the plugs! All the while still getting over 30mpg out on the street. It was dead reliable and fun to drive. Handled like a go cart (another thing SyTy's dont do well).
Problem was I could make more power but not go faster. No traction at all, ever. I later put a 2.0 block in it, a t3/t4 turbo, and a quafe lsd and the car made an honest 450 wheel hp. But all it did was spin the front tires. It was less fun to drive with the extra power on the street, and with sticky tires it became a time bomb as far as axles went. Between that frustration and just being associated with dumbasses like most of the Honda kids I just gave it up and concentrated on the Sy. The Sy is much more fun to run from the stoplights with, gets a much bigger wow factor, is better looking, much more rare, and isnt associated with idiots. But, it doesnt handle as well and has to be worked on A LOT more often. In the end if you wanna play with hondas you just have to put up with the crap and prove at the track that your not just another fart-can muffler punk.
