Small S10 fuel tank?

After some searching I came up empty on this one (no pun intended). What year S10 had the small (ten gallon I think) fuel tank? Better yet anyone got the GM part number for it? I'll be welding on it so Id rather have a new one that I dont have to worry about blowing myself up from the residual fumes.

TIA

Honestly everyone I have checked with can only get 20 gallon replacements . I will pay a $$$ finders fee if someone can get me one .

Re: Small S10 fuel tank?

myclone has a syclone. lmc truck does not list a 13 gallon tank for either the S or T trucks. check out the applications here:

BLZ JIM -> This would only work in a typhoon, not a syclone. the only tanks they show for a syclone are the 20 gallon replacements. as far as i know, nobody stocks the 13 gallon tanks any more. from their point of view, the majority of people only want to hold more fuel, not less.

If your going to modify it, why not just start with what youve got. Ive welded to 4 or 5 used tanks with no problems. Empty it, let it air dry for a day or two, rinse with soapy water and weld away. BTW- an unsealed container will not explode. As a firefighter we have burned many cars in training with fuel tanks- that we didnt empty, and I have yet to see one explode.

I dont have a huge problem with using the one I have but it just means more welding (more welding=more chance of leaks) so Id like to start with a small tank from the get go. I can clean one out with no problem and Ive done it before when welding on a fuel tank but Id really rather start with a new piece if at all possible since its less work to clean/paint/etc. There are a ton of other things Id rather do than spend a few hours scrubbing a fuel tank.

FWIW after emptying the fuel gather up some tubing (shop vac tubing works for me) and attach one end to a running vehicle and the other to the filler neck of the fuel tank to be welded on (it doesnt have to be air tight). Start the vehicle and let it run for ~1/2hr and the exh will purge the tank of any residual fuel. I used to weld a bunch of dirt bike tanks for the locals after they crashed and punched holes in them. Works fine if you either dont have a location to wash out a fuel tank (EPA/neighbors might have an issue with it) or if your like me have a well rather than city water and dont want the fuel/soap to eventually end up in your drinking water.

If you do manage to locate one, it may have to be modified to work. Been looking for one myself for a few years now...

Well I've looked myself and have had no luck . I asked john for one and he couldnt find one when he looked a few times last year , so anyone that crosses paths with one can make a few bucks by passing it to me . TIA .

Would a regular 2nd gen tank work at all for you I have one literally doing nothing

Prolly...2nd gens up to mid 90s (dunno about 2k-up...havent looked at em) are practically identical to 1st gens on the under side so it wouldnt suprise me if the tanks are identical.

If it will work I would be interested in it. Hit me up with a PM and maybe we can work a dealy  .

Is the 2nd gen a 13 gallon tank ? As long as its small , fits in the space provided , and uses an internal pump it will be fine .
