DaveP said:I had this a few weeks ago in my Ty. From time to time. And no obvious leaks. The hose to the charcoal cannister had blown off the bottom of the throttle body. The fumes won't be sucked out of the cannister, it will become saturated, and the fumes migrate up the inner fender, into the cowl plenum, and blown into the cab by the AC.
At least that was my issue. I put the hose back on, and no more gas smell. Also check that the check valve in this line is OK.
I get the same smell but usually right after I gas up or when I take off hard. I need to check the tank to make sure there are no leaks. The pump was changed on this truck at Pepboys by the previous owner. I wonder if they connected all the lines correctly. I plan to take the tank down soon to install a new HP pump in there. I don't smell it in the engine compartment so I should be somewhat safe for now. It seems to be coming from the rear. Check your tank as well.
