Just want to make sure but I believe the L-92 heads only fit 6.0L and bigger as the valves are to big to fit an LS1 's small bore. I read this in a mag at some point and thats why I plan on getting an LS2 or LQ4 for the So Gt of course

Yes, you need at least a 4.00" bore for them to fit. A 2.00" valve is all that'll fit on the 4.8/5.3 3.787" bore, but its pretty shrouded. The 5.7 can take a 2.08" valve but a 2.05" is better, with 2.02" is being the most common. You might want to look into getting an LS3. They're in the new 08-up vettes and they're an aluminum 6.2L with essentially L92 heads. :)

Or heck, get the new LS9 (basically the LS3 with a factory supercharger and output somewhere in the 600's (I don't think theres an official # yet)) since we're spending your money for you.....

But whoever it was who pointed out that L92 heads require a 4.00"+ bore is correct. So, you've got to have either a 6.0 block (4.00" bore), a 6.2 block (4.065" bore), a 7.0 block (4.125" bore), or an aftermarket or re-sleeved block with a big bore. The 5.7 & 4.8 / 5.3 blocks both have too small a bore to use the L92/L76/LS3 style heads.

The original question of whether this engine was worth the money is still valid. It probably is worth the cash. The LSx platform has plenty of potential (as evidenced by the fact that the L92 is factory rated at 403hp in a TRUCK), and a fair bit of aftermarket support. But parts are still more expensive than SBC stuff (although likely to be cheaper than 4.3 parts).

As far as the swap goes, you've got a couple of issues to work through.
1.) Front accessory drive is one, you'll want the C5 / C6 / CTS-V accessories. The f-body / GTO accessories don't work (alternator and steering box try to occupy the same space) and the truck accessories can be made to work, but they stick out another 2" from the front of the radiator (into space that even with the vette accessories is really tight).
2.) Exhaust. None of the mainstream manifolds fit without significant modification (ie f-body, vette, truck, GTO, etc). I haven't seen anybody making 4wd S10 headers as of yet. My truck is running modified f-body manifolds (they're hacked, chopped & welded back up). Both sides required modifications. They've been on there for a while, and haven't come apart yet (knock on wood) that I can tell (usually can hear exhaust leaks pretty easy).

I 'try' to keep my mouth shut about alot of stuff, because I don't own a Sy or a Ty. And I don't really want one, never been a fan of Pro-Jackstand (kidding)....

Seriously, I'd love a Ty, but with only 2 doors, the backseat is a royal PIA for the required 2 carseats (3.5 yr old and 16 mo old). And I like the 2nd gen bodystyle better. But noboby is into performance (in an S10 platform at least) and AWD like you guys. So, I stick around and add info where I can.

And sooner or later, I'm going to have to look you up 'Try Me' since you're local and have a LSx Syclone.
