Re: solid engine mounts

I have solid motor mounts on my truck and they have no effect on the knock sensor. I have heard not to use solid mounts on the trans. But I have no experience with them.

Re: solid engine mounts

i have been running solids for over 3 years now and you can tell a little difference in vibaration but that is about it nothing else. and you dont have to worry about breaking the driver motor mount and cutting radiator hoses anymore.

Put a tie-down strap on the drivers side, and you don't have to worry about either the vibration or the broken mount.

Re: solid engine mounts

I have solid motor mounts & you MUST !! run A solid Trans mount or you will break or ( crack the bell housing). DO NOT use just the rubber trans mount. I welded mind solid. I can do yours also, just send it to me & pay for S&H here & back to you.

You may be right but it has been like this for 3-4 years and many 11 sec track passes not one problem yet :)

Where did you hear about needing to run a solid trans mount with solid motor mounts? Just curious more than anything, as I was always under the impression that you should not run a solid trans mount with solid motor mounts. This was because of the flex in the frame needed to have some give in the trans mount or you could break the trans housing.

I personally have run solid motor mounts on my trucks for years with poly trans mounts and never had any problems.

Re: solid engine mounts

90% of the people that run the NMRA run solid transmission mounts due to the flex that it puts on the trans./ bellhousing under A tourque load. Many cases noted that the bellhousing were cracked or worse because of not using A solid Trans. mount. Come to think of it my cousin had this problum in his nova, got lucky & just cracked the bellhousing. Just my facts & my .02 ( I ) will always run A solid trans. mount with solid motor mounts. Poly mounts might be fine because there alot harder then the stock rubber ones without as much flex.
