Solid mount alignment prob

I was able get the factory through bolt into the passenger side mount but from looking at the driver side, seems that the mounts need to be about 1/4 inch farther from each other to make it to both frame pads enough to use the factory bolts.

Would it be ok to use grade 8 3/8 bolts instead? The difference in diameter would make up for the shortcoming but is a 3/8 strong enough? How bout adding washers between the mount and the block to bring them out a bit?

I just got done fighting the same problem. If you have a cherry picker, keep lifting the motor in tell they both line up. I had the Pass side bolt in also and the driver would not slide in. So I pulled the bolt from the pass side, lifted the motor about at inch above the mounts and got the engine level by hand set back down. Sound easy, but It toke me about 5 times to get right. I hope this helps

Other than using a cherry picker, is there a way to get the motor up when doing this swap?

jack it up w/ a floor jack from underneath.

But where to place the jack is the key question. On the trans inspection cover?

oil pan is strong as hell if you don't go crazy w/ the jack.

I couldn't even get mine to line up properly with the motor out of the truck :lol: ...

:stupid: well derh, you gotta put the motor INTO the truck to get the holes even close FWIW Put a board or something solid on top of the jack so that you don't put a hole in the pan with one of the little ears on the side, didn't do it, but saw it done!! thats a pain in the neck you'd love to avoid believe you me!

Hey jack, did you get this figured out?

When i did the solid mounts on my Ty i had the same problem, and th ebest solution i found wa sto leave the frame pads alittle loose, then you can wiggle to engine around and the pads around till you can get the bolts in, then i tightened the frame pads first then the thru bolts on the mounts and al was good after that.

I mocked up my solids yesterday with the other block I've got here. I attatched the frame pads to the solid engine block mounts and sat the engine down in.... bolted up the transmission tight and located two of the bolt holes with bolts... I made sure it was streight and level and tack welded the pads on. The holes are not perfectly lined up with the factory holes. Could be a Moroso problem or fab'd frame pad problem.
I wanted the engine and mounts to fit where it was relaxed in the engine bay and not have trouble when putting it back in later this week.

Sounds like it's a bit too late for you to try such a thing but that's how I did mine.

Once I pulled the block out I welded them solid to the frame.
