Rack and pinion would be interesting although the Howe unit is very nice. Direct and good road feel.
Belivee it or not the IRS would probably result in slower lap times than my stick axle and 3 link. Ask Griggs Racing.

you could lift the engine a bit by putting something like these under your solid mounts:
your truck screams for irs and rack&pinion steering btw!
