Will be tough to situate the alky tank over here unless you ditch your ABS:

Re: Some Goodies for the Ty

And93Ty475 is right about the low alky LED flickering with the tank being 1/2 full. I just ended up cutting the wire for the LED and taping it off as the flickering got annoying. I keep a close eye on the alky level anyway. I haven't even tuned this progressive system yet, so I'm glad you got one too so we can compare notes. One thing I know for sure - this pump is a lot more powerful than the old SMC one I had. Need to be careful with this thing not to wash down the cylinder walls with too much alky. That reminds me I need to change my oil soon

Props to an EXTREMELY clean truck mrweelr... Damn!!!

Re: Some Goodies for the Ty

Thanks man. Yes, the passenger fender was cut with a Dremel and the rubber flaps were also removed on both sides. I drive in the rain sometimes, so I only removed what was needed, deburred, then painted.

Re: Some Goodies for the Ty

Steven came over last night and we talked shop and drove each others' trucks. We hooked up DM to his Ty and did some WOT runs. Two problems showed right up: 1. TPS is only getting up to 93% with the pedal all the way down (no floormat); 2. IA temps are getting up to 220F. I'm thinking his throttle cable is stretched or misadjusted and the intercooler pump is dead as a doornail. He said he'll look into these issues ASAP as they are killing his truck's performance. Oh yeah, he was getting KR up to 10 degrees, but that's normal on crappy 91 octane and stock turbo/wastegate/boost control. I think he's going to upgrade the turbo and wastegate along with the A2A and just do everything at once. These upgrades should solve the knocking and high IA temps.

Re: Some Goodies for the Ty

Yeup, that was great dude. I'm glad we got a chance to look at that stuff. I got the space heater in the garage, the radio out, and my buddy's comin' over to help (or watch) me start taking it apart a bit. We'll start on that and try to adjust my throttle cable. I'm still thinking about the turbo/wastegate just to get er dun, but I'm hesitant because I wouldn't know which one to go with, don't want something too big that's gonna take too long to spool, and there are just so many options out there. I would also probably need a bit higher still TC and there's more money, etc. I just don't know, gonna have to keep thinkin' about it. Also, I looked into the KB boost-a-pump. That thing does allow you to adjust the voltage to your pump. It seems kinda cool. I just wish it was something I did so I would know more about it. Anyways, I read here on the forum that this thing turned too rich caused a 4k rpm shift problem. Maybe this is why my truck likes to shift so quickly and not rev up all the way. I'll continue to try and figure things out, and bug my Dad to take some TIME and help me out too; he's always so busy. Thanks again for your help last night Jeremy.

Re: Some Goodies for the Ty

Yeah, I read up on that Boost-A-Pump thing too - I have the KB catalog if you want it. Sounds nifty, but I don't know if it's necessary anymore with the Racetronix kit being available. I'd remove it if it were my truck to keep things simple, but that's your call. I chose the 60-1 turbo because Mike said it would spool quickly and put me in the 11's; all I can say is this turbo rocks with the 2800 stall TC! You should think about what your goals are with the truck so you can build accordingly. Like I said, my motor is bone stock from top to bottom and you saw how differently our trucks ran with just bolt-ons. Let me know what you want to do next, I can help ;)

Re: Some Goodies for the Ty

Sweet dude. I just ran in here for a sec. Been in the garage wrenchin with my buddy, taking the intercooler apart and stuff. I'll probably be in need of help when it comes to putting some of this stuff on, like you said, wiring for the e-fans. Anyways, if you ever have a night where you're not doing anything, I'd love the help. You're welcome to call me up and come over any time.
Oh, and I downloaded the Datamaster program. Whenever you get a chance, if you could email the file to me at live1053rulz@hotmail.com that would be aweeesome.
Back to the garage!...

Re: Some Goodies for the Ty

Cool, so I started taking this thing apart last night. Made some progress. Still not sure what to do about the turbo... I'm thinking it's just gonna get harder and harder to pass smog the most stuff I get. I'll see what kind of condition my turbo seems to be in and see how hard it will be to remount the actuator, etc. Has anyone done the RPM A2A kit with stock turbo, if so, can you tell me how hard it was/will be to keep that thing. I'll make my decision based upon those things. Ramcharger E-fans just came in. Still waiting on AFPR, stainless upper radiator support, and A2A kit should be here tomorrow morning according to UPS tracking number. Any ideas on what to do with this Turbo issue would be great, if I should do it, what turbo.... I still need to pass CA smog and it's still a DD. Thanks guys.

Re: Some Goodies for the Ty

Okay, more stuff has come in... E-fans and A2A. Took some pics. I trimmed up the fans but I think they're gonna need a little more to fit perfectly. All is good with the A2A with the exception of the pictured clamp, should be able to straighten that out. Gotta start cleaning things up and get puttin the new parts on. Don't know how much longer my parents will let me use the spare car I've been runnin around in lately. I'm gonna check for leaks and see what gasgets I should replace, anyone have any input on the valve cover gasgets on a truck with 76k miles; it's probably best to replace them anyway...

Re: Some Goodies for the Ty

Steven - just buy some new Vortec composite valve covers and new gaskets while you're at it. They look better, weigh less, and won't retain heat like the metal ones (obviously). I bought mine used from another forum member, but they are not expensive at all from http://gmpartsdirect.com.

Looks like you're making progress. Nice job  BTW, I have some extra band clamps lying around.

Re: Some Goodies for the Ty

Cool, I'll get those gasgets. Might has well while I'm at it... I just straightened that clamp out for the most part, I think it'll be alright. I think I'm gonna have to trip the fan down a bit more past where the ears were, it doesn't seem like it wants to pop in. Progress, slowly but surely.

I can't find the valve covers on GMPartsDirect. Maybe I'm just retarded... I'll keep looking and maybe check with the dealer; I get discounts at GM.

The part numbers for the left and right covers are in the forum here somewhere if you search. You'll also need the filler neck and cap.

Here's the bracket I made to mount the actuator with my reclocked, stock turbo. It's not quite JS quality, bit it worked :)
