Some help would be appreciated

Well I just recently purchased a datamaster cable from another member on the forum. I went out to my truck tonight to do a couple of runs. I had the interior lights on and the first thing I did was plug the pwr connector into the cig lighter and my truck made a funny noise and the roof light turned off and the radio display went blank. the only interior light that works normal is the floor lights. It cleared on my radio stations from the presets. If any lights are on the radio will have static and the display is blank. When turning on the headlights the roof light comes on. I disconnected the battery and held the cables together for 2 mins and no difference. What the hell happend. Any ideas would be great. I am too pissed to think of anything. Thanks

well I ran out there real quick and the horn was not working. I guess that confirms the horn fuse being blown. Thanks Adam. What caused it, the datamaster cable?

dont plug it into the cig lighter. Do Sys have the power ports in the console??? if so, put it in there, if not, try pluging the cig adapter in FIRST, before anything else is hooked up.

I dont know why exactly, but the cig lighter port is extremely sensitive when a load gets put on it. I had the same problem with my rader detector. If I happen to plug it in when the unit was on, it would blow the fuse. If I plugged it in with it unplugged from the unit, it was fine.

if all else fails, make yourself an auxilary 12V source.
