Some movement on the truck

I bought good old Sy 1713 off of Maxter back in the early part of 05. Truck never gave me any problems. Which I thought was funny considering everyone else had their truck up on jackstands every other week ..

Welp, I put bigger injectors in it, never really got it tuned all the way. Lack of time at meets were the main cause. But no biggy. I bought the truck to have fun and as my first truck something I could build and grow with as time went on. With pretty much a 10 min tune to get it running on the 50lb injectors and at 22psi I was at 12.3 @ 108's. I tried to push the truck to hit an 11 without a tune and ended up with a tick and low compression on #3. No big deal. It kinda went along with me wanting to rebuild the motor with better parts and go faster anyway. (mid-end part of 06 at this point, add in divorce moving 3 times, lost job, and in debt still and you can move to current time.. )

So this is where it sits.

Over last weekend I put in 2 inch lowering blocks that I picked up from some local low rider kids for $20, the only thing is the u-bolts are a bit long and I have to cut some of it off. No big deal. I'm leaving enough on to bolt up battle bars in the future. Then I unscrewed the torsion bolts a little to drop the front to make it sit a ltitle better.

Pic of the blocks and the long ass u-bolts;

My plans for the truck are still a little up in arms. Mostly waiting to hear back about a block, and trying to get some time to go pick up a built set of bowtie heads that will be put on this iffy block at the moment. But I'm hoping to be in the mid 10's easily with the truck when its done.

Here are some pics I took with my phone while in the shop. Sorry for the quality, the phone was a little diry from texting while working on the truck most of the day lol. The stock block and crank look really clean. And like I orginally thought, the #3 piston ring lands let go to cause my tick and low compression. Which is a good thing it was only that problem.

Here's the motor with the heads pulled off.

I'll add more pics and update when I get more stuff done. I'm going to pick up some bowtie heads sometime next week hopefully.

Well its taken me a while to get to this point sadly. I really wanna get this thing going, and going fast before August. That way it'll be ready to drive and have some fun for the shindig. Not to mention I just wanna boost launch it again.

I think that me and tim have motivated each other to work on the trucks. Becasue our pos broke about the same time almost 2 years ago.

I dont know Mike.. I called a guy up today who has 3 bowtie blocks, brand new with the billet main's for a good price. But I just have to come up with the money. I really wanna get it up and running before the Shindig, but it might cost me to much to soon to do it. If nothing else it'll be ready the first of next year. :dunno:

I feel ya . MrsKing has put my spending on hold after striking a deal on 0593 . I want it painted before shindig so I can bring both the Sy+Ty but not unless I can embezzle enough funds by a month before then .

Re: Some movement on the truck

got any pics of the intake side of the heads?

i just completed the machine work and assembled of my bowtie heads, i'm preparing to start building the tubular headers

these heads are easily a 50# weight loss over stockers

Re: Some movement on the truck

They are vortec style 23*.

What were they used for? Or at least designed to be used for?
