Well that was a wasted trip. The truck was poo. IL= RUST.I could swear that I saw barnacles on the undercarrige..
Inside was "okay" but filthy and the headliner was sagging. It was obvious to me that the radiator core support had been changed out at some point.Instead of having the "JJK" broadcast code stickers,it had "PDP" which I imagine is a regular TBI 4.3.

When this thing comes up on ebay again I just want everyone to know that it really isn't worth bidding on,unless you can get it for CHEAP.
.
I wish I had noticed the auction sooner... Someone should have used the resources here.
I COLD AVE SAVED THIS POOR SOLE SOME GRIEF!
That guy is a member here but doesn't log on much. he was originally asking $14,000 if I remember correctly. When I took the pic at the car show i was considering buying it but it was way too far gone for my taste. I never actually saw it but rumor has it tat some of the cladding was held on with drywall screws.

The guy was cool but the truck was far from it......... This is the last time I bid on a ebay item without checking it out myself or having someone close and dependable check it out....... Thank God for friends like Jimmy Mann

. To get up at 4 AM and drive 9 hours to come back empty handed wasn't our ideal of fun but he never complained a bit!!!
Maybe I'm wrong... but this TY is in O'Fallon? DO I understand correctly... the truck didn't sell? It's still here in my home town? I'm still not offering him more than 6K for it but good to know where it is. If I had known you guys were in the area you could have stopped by for a few and checked out the aspen and my project GT. Oh well, maybe next time.

What value would you put on it in case it comes up for sale again? /QUOTE]

That is in the eye of the beholder but personally.....$4,500 IMO. It is in O' Fallen if anyone is interested in buying it and keep in mind it was sold at public auction in August 93 with 32,000 some odd miles on the clock. New engine went in right after that with replacement front end pieces so there is just too much mystery about this one for me to mess with. This truck had MAJOR visible rust so imagine what is waiting to greet you behind the cladding. Too much of a project for me though. I want a clean low mile Ty and would rather pay at the get-go for it. Projects tend to linger and milk funds. My guess is that to do this truck justice, it will require $6-8,000 above purchase price.

T-Bone, when I get ready to buy a Sy will you help me???

Always ready to help a Comrade-in-Arms :). I would guess 95% of the folks on this board know more about Typhoons (the technical stuff) than I but you have my help if ever you need it. I am quite thorough on exterior/interior inspections and historical data. I'm flying to get a 92 Sonoma GT Thursday that is a jewel of a find.....will post pics Saturday when it is resting in my garage.

T-n-T, one more thing. Don't know what you have in mind but I do know of a excellent condition (NO cladding/rust issues at all) Sy in E'town, KY that needs a repaint which I happened to find as a result of getting lost. Paint has cracked open on the hood and cab top from sun and heat over the years. I am awaiting a response from the owner on a offer to buy it. If that is up your ally, let me know. I don't really need another one but I envisioned a PPG paint scheme applied to it this coming spring if I get it.

Eventhough I only have GT's you'll always have my help. I have a few tools laying around inthe garage. I'm just 5 minutes away too!

By the way... I'm headin down to Gateway this Tuesday night to run my project SoGT. If you are free you should bring the TY out. I think Krepinty will be there and TyDriver mentioned the possibility.

Re: Somone just bought a Ty

Thanks Jon!!! I had the Ty out this weekend (Saturday) and thought about stopping by, but didn't want to drop in un-announced. I'll see how I feel tonight whether I make it out to Gateway or not...

T-Bone, I have a house up for sale but once that's a done deal I'd like to find a Syclone that I wouldn't mind modifying to run 12's and possibly even paint. I just want to make sure the frame is straight and the block isn't cracked...

Hmmmm, the one I located would be a PERFECT platform for your intentions. I'll get the VIN on my way back from picking up the Sonoma GT Thursday and we can investigate its history but it looks real nice visually. Maybe I can get the owner to cough up a price as well.

Re: Somone just bought a Ty

Hey T-Bone,
As much as I wouldn't mind having a project truck, I just can't lay my hands on that kinda cash right now. I've got money tied up in a house for sale and wouldn't want to keep another Sy/Ty'er from getting what they really want. Thanks for the heads up though, that's really cool of you!!!
