Southeast SyTy Meet - July 29th

Decided to make a new thread since the other one seemed more like a "planning" thread.

Date - July 28th-30th (Fri-Sun)
Where - Jackson, SC - Carolina Dragway
Who - All SE SyTy Members (GA, FL, SC, NC, TN, etc...)

Plan
----------
Fri - Everybody arrives, hang out, and eat.
Sat - We have track from 10am-2pm with local racing afterwards. Eat, hang out, etc...
Sun - Varying departure times (Waller and I will be around till after lunch.)

Details
-----------
- Price per driver will be $75 with no spectator fee (remember, we have the track to ourselves.)
- The $75 pays for track rental, worker fees (tree man, slip man, staging man, etc...), and onhand EMTs.
- There will be no concessions, so bring your own beverages/snacks (no glass bottles.)
- I'm unsure of safety regulations, but bring a helmet if you have one. We should have spares.

We really would like to see at least 20 cars/trucks running, and this isn't just limited to SyTys. Bring all your F-Body, Buick, etc... buddies. John and I will definitely be present, and we anticipate a fair NC/FL/TN turnout and a strong GA/SC turnout. If we have any money left over after all is paid, we'll put it towards the next meet we all have.

I have a Paypal account set-up to prepay for this event, or you can mail a check for payment. This way, we have evidence of payment and no confusion. You have until July 21st to prepay as we have to turn the money in that next week. Paypal payments can be made to - admin@georgiasyty.com

We've decided to nail this date, but if anyone has a major objection please voice it. If you are planning on attending, PLEASE REPLY BELOW!!!

Thanks all!

Im out guys, sorry. Im down a trans in the Sy, and Chromey isnt getting that kind of mileage.

Im picking up my 65 GMC tomorrow and its sorta tempting to take it....but then realizing the drive to SC at 55mph topped out would turn to hell really quick.

Your '65 must have a three speed. My '63 still has the three on the column....I feel your pain.

Hood,
If you don't run is the 75 bucks required for GAST members.

Thanks

No, but this meet is rather expensive for Waller and myself to make happen, so any donations would be more than welcomed. And, yes, spectators are more than welcome (again, so are donations

Gary's description of my 65...

"It basically looks like it came off the farm" :rotf:

Price was right, and plan to make it a fun local beater and project truck to learn how to do things such as welding, body work, etc that I wont ever do on the Sy.

Long term plan is to bag it, and make it rat rod style... matte black paint, white roof. Theres the possibility it might go farther and become Sy powered... they make 4.3 kits for these things ;)

Long term is the key though.... Im looking forward to playing with vintage and putting the SyTy crap in the corner for awhile.

Re: Southeast SyTy Meet - July 29th

OK I am in what is the cut off date on the payment? Need to get the cash up. And I will be leaving from Greenville SC so if anyone would like to link up and convoy down incase of trouble let me know i will come up with a meeting spot. I have nextel walky talky as well. (if that matters) I guess I need to get the huge sub box and amps out of the TY to lose some weight. And keep AAA on call if something goes wrong. Will any one be there that can help teach me to tune some? And what is the local INN's numbers, rather stay where you guys are crashing.

Re: Southeast SyTy Meet - July 29th

Okay guys, this Saturday will be two weeks till the meet and we haven't gotten near enough committed to attend and we've only had 3 people pay so far. I know some of you are planning to pay at the meet, but if we can't get 12-15 people (at least) committed by Friday, July 21st, then I'm afraid we may have to call the meet off and wait till September for the GAST/F-Body meet in Reynolds. This (calling off the meet) is the LAST THING we want to do, but it's far too expensive for John and I to pay the remaining balance if only 7-10 people attend.

Please, guys, make an effort to get more people (local, non-syty related) committed and keep this meet alive. Otherwise, it's off.
