500 HP = 420 RWHP for a 5K lb truck. The 4.3 V6 is putting how much too the ground? Yes the SRT-10 has a bigger engine but it also weighs a lot more.

From he factory they put out 285-300 at the flywheel. I am 90% sure those were flywheel numbers. A stock SY weighed about 3,700lbs. Again I am not positive these are EXACT numbers but am sure they are very close. We also put out 400ft lbs of torque stock, don't know if those numbers help any but I am pretty sure they are close to accurate.

Jimmy's Typhoon is modified and his boost was cranked up to like 20 or something which would put him in the very low 12 second area. The day was a bit cool (high 40's) so everything was in his favor. At launch, I had no traction at all. Even when I feathered it and caught 2nd and 3rd, the SRT/10 just wanted to spin. By that time, he was bus lengths ahead and I wasn't reeling him in all the way to about 140 MPH. Aside from a custom exhaust, the SRT/10 was stock. In the end, I couldn't have done anything with him on that day even if he were stock. AWD just makes too much of an advantage, especially when accompanied with forced induction!!

Agreed. You anywhere close to Nashville, TN? I have a friend with a Ty that I know would volunteer to tape the race, IF we are close enough in proximity to pull it off.

That's great!! I just wish I could have proved the point with a 100,000 mile, 14 year older stock Syclone . At least the streets in Houston are hotter so that should help the SRT gain traction somewhat.

I think the key here is TRQ and not so much HP. 400ft lbs of TRQ is a lot for 3700 lbs. A stock RC will only get around 430-440 at the wheels. A QC gets even less. Is the 400 at the tires? If it is then I think I might start leaning toward the SRT-10 losing. Either way I think it would be a drivers race and I don't think one trip down the strip will answer our question. I sure would like to see the race though. On my QC with the Stage 2 flash, intake and Exhaust I had 438 RWHP and 500 TRQ at the wheels. That got me 12.7 @ 108 on a low DA day at sea level. Race weight was about 5500 lbs (with driver but no spare/jack/tailgate).

I think we are all talking about 2 different things.
1. What each truck is capable of in stock form strictly by the numbers. On paper I think the SRT would pull out a win (not by much) with a great driver.
2. What really would happen. This is what I eluded to eariler. This would really be a drivers race. One bad shift or launch and the SRT would not make it.

Bone stock vs bone stock. The Syclone is the "Quickest". In a short race AWD will win every time. If the race is long enough the SRT-10 will catch up every time.

I really like how this discussion is civil and mature. Its easy to get upset and argue. Weve had these same kind of threads with Lightning owners in the past and it gets ugly quickly. It looks like both groups are really cool and strongly respect the others trucks. :tup:

Car and Driver never did learn how to drive the SRT-10 worth a damn Those are slow times for both SRT's. They might wanna hire some drivers from Motortrend/TruckTrend lol

Even TruckTrend did a 13.7@103mph at a drag strip in the QC, the RC is considerably faster. Damnit I hate having to say that lol

They didn't do a good job on the Syclone and the Typhoon either. Stock Syclones have run 12.9 - 13.7 in stock form. Alot depends on how much the driver wants to abuse the machine. Like others have said, Syclones, Typhoons, Lightnings, SS 454's and SRT/10's are all fabulous in their own way. Each bring something different to the table. I fell in love with the Syclone looks and performance stats when it first hit the newstand and yet I am old enough to realize records are in place to be topped, however, I never outgrew my fondness for the mean looking bullfighter that ruled the streets in 1991 and which, 17 years later, still rules to a great degree. I still get goosebumps when I see my Syclones in the garage.

Yeah I don't put much stock into what the magazines get, usually the real world owners will best those times after some time behind the wheel. This old test they did 12.9@106 http://www.pickuptrucks.com/html/autoshows/naias2002/dodge/ramsrt10.html But the real world owners have gone even faster, I don't think anyone has beat the stock 12.74@109mph record yet for the regularcab SRT-10's though. All the other 12 second stock SRT times are 12.8-12.9.

Dang... well there is a quad cab black SRT-10 that is rolling on the north shore of Oahu. It is nice looking. Lowered, black centered wheels and exhaust. It had a Schofield barracks military officer sticker on the windshield.
I need to make it to the big island, but it wont be for a few years. How about some pictures of your truck btw?
